Default Greetings

So, I recently jumped into PokerStars with a $50 deposit shooting for the bonus. I had no idea FPP would be so hard to get! Well, anyway, I was doing pretty well. I was only playing at the micro tables really, and I had a profit of about $10 so far (I'd say a 20% profit isn't bad for the first day or two, playing low-risk and all that).

Anyway, long story short, I left PokerStars running on my computer... A buddy of mine thought it was just a poker game thing, went back to it, sat back in on the table I was sitting out of, and preceded to lose my $61.92 that I had gained over lots of steady, careful hands. He refuses to pay me back, because he says it was my fault I left it up.

Now, on top of things, my girlfriend doesn't feel I should be playing any more poker online. She says if there is a way I can get the $50 back in PokerStars, she won't have any problem with me playing, but that I am not allowed to deposit any more money into the game to win back my losses. I can understand her point, but I feel this... Horrible weight of the loss. It is more than just $50 to me, it is like... This whole big teasing, taunting debt that I now have, this void that I keep going back to in my mind.

What I want to ask is:

With PokerStars, is there any way to win real money through play money games? (That would ACTUALLY be possible for an amateur yet smart poker player)

Is there any way to start with free REAL money at any poker site online? (that is reliable and not loaded with spyware)

Would there be a better site out there than PokerStars for the low ammounts I am playing for? (I hear the Full Tilt is much better for low-volume poker players)

Any advice?

I refuse to go beg for $5 to start up my gambling again, and I decided to obey my girlfriend's demand. I can understand her point of view. I am just so frustrated and I feel like less of a man now! Even if I had withdrew $1.00 as an overall profit, I would feel better about myself...

Thanks, THF.

I'm kind of a dumbass... I scrolled down to the bottom of the board list and saw the "Introduce Yourself" portion... Probably should have posted this down there. Sorry about that!

You can try the Hubble freerolls. Top 99 players win a ticket to a $2,000 freeroll. Pokerstars is the worst site to win money on from freerolls but you can always try if you have nothing better to do. Smaller sites have better freerolls though and with less players.

If your friend ever leaves his car keys on the table you should take his car for a long ride. If he says something about it just tell him that he shouldn;t have left his keys on the table.

Welcome to the site.

Welcome Asruchka, I took the liberty of moving your thread. Kaart is right about the freerolls on Poker Stars, they can be an excruciating event.

Does your buddy ever leave his girlfriend laying around on the couch?

..or how about you grab him hard by the balls - then say
it was his fault for leaving them hanging around.

Other than that, yeah, post your story in a poker forum and see if anybody
(nicer than your buddy) will give you $5.

If you are looking to play on poker stars. You could check out the private lobby
for private freerolls, or make a bunch of play chips and sell them for a profit.

Also, you can get no deposit bonuses at some sites. They'll give you say $10 to start up. I'm not sure exactly which sites have that at the moment but a google for 'no deposit poker bonus' should get you there.

Sticking some money on without telling her and punching your mate in the head is the first thought that springs to my mind!
