The hand rankings are ordered from best to worst. The important thing to remember is that the best 5 hands cards win.

The Royal Flush

The royal flush comprises of 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace in the same suit. The royal flush is the highest ranking hand in the game. In essence it is the highest straight flush possible.

Example :

10 of Hearts Jack of Hearts Queen of Hearts King of Hearts Ace of Hearts

Straight Flush

The straight flush comprises of 5 cards in sequence of the same suit. Note that with straight flushes and straights the Ace can be used both low and high eg. A, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10, J, Q, K, A.

Example :

3 of Spades 4 of Spades 5 of Spades 6 of Spades 7 of Spades

4 of a Kind

4 cards of the same ranking.

Example :

6 of Spades 6 of Spades 6 of Spades 6 of Spades

Full House

A full house is 3 of a kind and a pair eg. all 5 cards are used.

Example :

3 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds 3 of Spades 5 of Hearts 5 of Clubs

Flush

5 cards which are all of the same suit.

Example :

3 of Clubs 5 of Clubs 6 of Clubs Jack of Clubs King of Clubs

Straight

5 cards in a sequential order which are not all of the same suit.

Example :

6 of Clubs 7 of Hearts 8 of Spades 9 of Diamonds 10 of Clubs

3 of a kind

3 cards of the same ranking.

Example :

10 of Spades 10 of Clubs 10 of Hearts

2 Pairs

2 cards of the same ranking and another 2 cards of the same ranking. If two or more players have two pair the player with the highest pair wins. The remaining highest card that the player has will be used to determine the winner in the event of two or more players having the same two pair.

Example :

2 of Spades 2 of Clubs 2 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds

1 Pair

2 cards of the same rankings.

Example :

8 of Spades 8 of Clubs

High Card

Example :

Ace of Spades

In the event that no one has any of the above hands, the person with the highest card wins. If both people have the same high card it goes to the next highest card and so on.
