Default Misplayed...? Perhaps...

Shortly after this hand, this guy asked me if I counted my outs. During the hand, I had no idea I was up against kings, so I figured I was ahead of a hand like Ace King or King Queen. I then saw I was very lucky to catch another jack on the river, but was my play terrible? I know king jack isn't exactly a spectacular hand, but I hadn't played a hand in a while. Any advice or input? Thanks!

I don't see that you did anything wrong there. His bets werent really stong enough to scare you out of seeing a few more cards- that was his fault and the reason his Ks busted in the end. You did have top pair anyway. I would have put him on a flush draw with Ax personally.

Thanks Alli. It was a limit ring game, so he was actually betting as much as he could. But of course, in limit, it's easier to chase because it'll only cost you so much, although I didn't know I was chasing Thanks!

Doh! I didnt notice the limit :0. Guess you were lucky then. Still, he had no real reason to get pissy.

Fold preflop. You shouldn't be calling raises with KJo. If you're gonna play this though, then you have to raise the flop. If you did this than villain would likely 3-bet, in which case you might be able to get away from your hand.

ya most the time i would fold, however i know how it is to not get anycards so...
but once u see the flop u had top pair i mighta been worried about AJ or qq kk aa especially with his raise preflop and then constant bettting...its kinda a shady hand, im not sure i woulda stayed in but then again, in certain situations, i prolly woulda called out that hand too.

I have no idea how he had been playing, but I would figure over pair or AJs even. It's a hard hand to lay down once you see the flop though, as you hit top pair 2nd kicker.

I see what you did wrong.......you beat jdub!, he wanted the pot...the pre-flop raise was only a 1 X BB raise...Yes KJo is not a great hand, but it was worth a play here....if you only wait for group 1 and 2 hands from the right positions and against the right opponents....you never will play a hand!

jdub needs to play against the idiots that I have been playing against...my last game an idiot calls a 2,000 all-in chip bet on the turn with a gutshot and a flush draw if the board would layout the 4th flush card and of course he rivered a club to match his 8 of clubs....2 hands later a player bet pre-lop 575 chips...then idiot re-raised to 3,000 chips and was called by a third player and the original bettor...after the flop, the third player bet 2,000 chips and the idiot folded saying I had good pockets but a bad flop....3 hands after that, the idiot bet me 2,000 chips on the flop and put me all-in on the turn for an additional 5,000 chips...I only had AT, with an Ace on the flop and would not have called that bet except that I was playing the idiot...what does he turn over Q8o, with an 8 that flopped....of course he rivers a Q.
