A respone to Blackstone's AK thread. I know this thread was closed. I felt I need to respond to give a different perspective of things.
I have to say. I think that was an overbet of the AK.
As I have said a few times in the past. The all in can have the opposite effect you want it to.
What you are trying to do here is get the pot uncontested or hopefully to be against a lesser but strong hand and come out on the top.
Most normal players will fold to a strong bet unless they feel you are bluffing here. You weren't
Unfortunately there are a lot of abnormal players out there.
Instead of an all in bet being a reason to fold trash it becomes a reason to call with anything in hopes of making a big score.
Not the brightest thing to do. In fact it is just plain stupid.
But, the the thrill of getting a chance to bust a good hand with junk is sometimes just to much to pass up.
That is why I think you over bet.
I good strong bet here most often has the desired effect. The pot becomes less tempting and they may in fact fold instead of call.
I know this is not going to make sense to some of you all.
But, think about and let it sink in a bit.
It's kind of like the lottery. It's a billion to one shot to win with a $1 bet. But, people will still do it. |
