| | | | That's a mentally tough beat to handle, but I don't think it counts as getting rivered, nor is it bad luck, since all the money went in preflop (when your opponent was a slight favorite). I understand how annoying that can be though. | |

I am honestly mad as hell on losing to the frigging river! And that little asshole called all of those raises with 99? You have got to be kidding me.

| | | | ok I think the fault is yours here your preflop raise wasnt high enough to give you any real information about the other players hands.
On the flop there was more than enough money to shoot for you should have raised to over 1000 chips and find out the real hands.
After the turn he was almost stuck in the hand with only one over card and his open ended straight draw so I believe the mistake was in your not raising enough preflop and alos on the flop to drive his hand out.
Also try and make it a habit to NOT show your hands unless in a freindly game.
I dont mean to come across as harsh but you need to know this was more your fault than his. He only called your raise he didnt over commit by reraiseing and he played the odds.
I hope this helps. | |

| | | | The second hand was in limit If it were NL or PL I would have pushed as hard as I could. I really only show my hand when I get a bad beat. I don't like to, but I feel like I should have won and hat my hand should be repected. But what can I do? If I get rivered so be it, but the pain is a lot to lose to a suckout.

| | | | In the first hand, I am wondering why you called an all in bet with the player in 2nd chip position with only an AQ off? Especially since you only had 100$ committed in the pot. AQ isnt that good of a hand IMO. Was the guy being crazy loose or something? I am not criticizing your play at all, I was just wandering what your thinking was at the time.

With only 100 committed to the pot, AQ offsuit is a pretty easy lay down here, unless you are looking for a coin flip. I think you should lay it down there and wait for a more sure hand before putting most of your chips in the middle. Even though he won on the river, he did have a slight edge preflop.

| | | | I hate to sound harsh here. But, I have to agree with the others. The guy going all in with 99 is not the greatest idea. But, you calling him with AQ off was a bigger mistake than he made. When you both showed he had the lead. The fact that you got trip Aces is irrelivant for the fact that he was the favorite preflop.
I lost an all in with AK off to a pair of 10s. I was really ticked off. Because I thought I should have won that hand. However. He did have the odds in his favor. 1010 is a better hand than AK and the odds held up that time.
Then with the KK you ignore all the hands that could beat you. The flop is a possible straight on the flop. Although 109 is not likely. I would not put it passed the group after seeing how the hand played out. Worse than that it is a nut straight.
Yes I know he didn't get it until the river. But you ignore the possibilities and don't try to do any damage control.
Instead of just calling your kings against a possible straight you raise.
Tulsafats is bluffing here. But, what about Frank. The way he lead out preflop I am putting him on a pair of aces. And he is making an attempt to find out what you have and whether or not Tulsa is bluffing or really has the straight.
Now the turn comes and Frank leads out again. This time your kings are against the possible nut straight and 2 draws. It is pretty obvious that you are not going to push either of this guys out on the turn. But, still you persist to raise.
No assuming frank has AA it was not a good raise on his part because he was facing the same possible hands your were. You had to worry about him having AA as well.
So, your reraise on top of his raise was not good either.
Tulsa has a death wish here. I bet if you had checked to franks bet he would have just called. saving you another 100 there. Making your savings 200 chips if you had not reraised the flop.
The turn comes and reall doesn't help you at all. Now you have still that possible straight but a draw to a flush or even a sickening draw to a 9 high straight. I know you probably want to raise here to push out the draws but that ignoring a that possible straight the may be out here. You kings aren't really that strong with all those possible hands that can beat you.
Then the river comes. You ignore a possible straight a possible flush and a possible striaght flush. Tulsa, after being quiet on the turn suddenly bets again. Warning lights should be going off in your head. But, again you ignore all the hands that could have you beat and raise again. Frank and his AA finally decides to fold when he comes to the conclusion that either there are just to many hands are out there that can beat him.
Maybe he didn't have AA. But, I would think it is a good chance. I don't think he had trip Js. Just doesn't seem likely.
So here you could have saved another 400 buy just folding to all the possible hands the could beat you.
And though Tulsa played stupidly you made plenty of errors in the hand.
Because lets say you got Tulsa to fold his 99s. You ignored the chance you could still be beat if Frank has his AA or even the 98 nut straight of 2 big for a high flush.
Basically you fell in love with your KK and refused to give them up even in the face of so many possible hands that had you beat.
We all do that.
I think instead of quiting poker totally you should step back for a while. Reread some of your poker books. Read bad beats by others so you see that it happens often enough that you have to make an adjustment in your play. Not to turn those bad beats into wins neccessarily. But, to lessen your losses.
In the end you will be able to improve you play and deal with these situations better than you have in the past.
Something I need to work on as well.
Just part of poker.
It will happen tomorrow and the next day. You just need to learn to adjust your play to maximize your profits and limit your losses. | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread
