i disagree
that wasnt a bad beat

you only raised 1xBB when you flopped two pair. The guy had bottom pair and a backdoor flush draw so the call was right in my opinion

At the river you raised 2xBB - at this point he still had bottom pair but he also had an open ended straight draw and 9 outs for the flush. His decision to call 2xBB was an easy one

you were unlucky with how the cards developed - but it wasnt a bad beat

Fonz, It was a limit tourny...not my fault I only raised a certain amount of BB, heh. You can put your money on it I would've raised 2-3x BB pre-flop and then another 5-6xbb on the flop had it been NL

thats a fair point - didnt notice that it was limit.
I still dont think its a bad beat - neither player played it wrong. He made the right decision calling those raises and you made the right decision raising the most you could

i think a lot of people get mixed up with what a bad beat is. A bad beat in this hand would have been if you went all in at the flop and then 2 clubs came to screw you - ie. if this happened the guy would have made an incorrect call and then his win would have been a bad beat for you However, this wasnt the case and at the flop and the river the other guy made the right decision calling. A bad beat is when the other guy doesnt get the correct pot odds to call you but calls you anyways and catches the only card or combination of cards to beat you

Again, your hand was beat - nothing to sweat about as you played it right

Okay thanks for explaining that a little bit. I just always considered a bad beat when 2 hands were at the flop and the supreme better one at the flop getting beat, never really thought pot odds made the difference in it. Would you have been calling my raises pre-flop and at the flop if you were him?

no - he wouldnt have been wise to call any raise with those cards - he was small blind remember which is why calling 1/2 BB was an ok move

I agree with Fonz 100%. That was in no way a bad beat. Since it was limit holdem, he was able to play out his flush draw. Plus he had low pair, and he might have possibly thought you were trying to steal the pot since you were shortstacked. Its never fun when you get knocked out, but that guy made the correct calls with his flush draw.
