| | | | Too Aggressive Preflop? PokerStars 0.25/0.50 Hold'em (7 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is Button with , . 1 fold, MP1 raises, 2 folds, Hero 3-bets, 1 fold, BB calls, MP1 caps, Hero calls, BB calls. I 3 bet here for 2 reasons. 1, I want to see if he will cap it and 2 I am trying to get this into a heads up situation. Anyone see a problem with my 3 bet preflop? Flop: (12.40 SB) , , (3 players)
BB checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises, BB calls, MP1 3-bets, Hero caps, BB calls, MP1 calls. Got the open ended draw here. I figure I am up against AA or KK but maybe he thinks the same thing about me. I am trying to get the free bet after the turn cars so i can chase this down. Turn: (12.20 BB) (3 players)
BB checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises, BB calls, MP1 calls. Success!!! Now just hope this board does not pair up or give a third diamond on the river. River: (18.20 BB) (3 players)
BB checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, BB folds, MP1 calls. Final Pot: 20.20 BB
Results in white below:
MP1 has Kc Kd (one pair, kings).
Hero has 7d 7c (straight, seven high).
Outcome: Hero wins 20.20 BB. Now after this hand was over I was called, and I quote, "Lucky trash"
Now, I'm fairly certain I didn't like that too much. My main question is regardless as to how the hand turned out was I too aggressive preflop. | |

| | | | it's all about style...the question are asking is were you too aggressive pre-flop...that depends on people's style, I would say maybe a LITTLE aggressive but okay I guess. On the flop, You played this perfectly. If you have an open ended straight draw and your pocket pairs are the overpair, that gives you a 40% chance of having the hand most likely if you put your opponent on some kind of high pocket pair. I always push when I have an open ended straight draw or a nut flush draw and you definitely played this correctly after the flop by having the overpair and an open ended. My 2 cents | |

| | | | I love the play. Expecially trying to get heads up........I would rather be VERY aggressive preflop and get HU play. If the flop was A Q 9....then......oh well......Since he was capping you and calling you, he probably has you beat........Then you are only out the preflop bets........It's funny, because I am playing right now and I had 8 8 and the flop was 10, 7, 4, then an Ace, but I caught my 8 on the river because he checked the Ace to trap me.. | |

| | | | Its the only way to play pp...if you want to win you have to get to heads-up...you will win many more hands than if someone calls with a higher pp or that outdraws you with an unpaired hand.
As I said in one of my bibles...even with 2,2...you are a 55% favorite with one opponent...but drop to a 22% dog with 3 opponents.
With 88 you are a 71% favorite with one opponent and drop to a 43% dog with 3 opponents.
However, it is harder in limit to get to heads-up than it is in nl.

| | | | I would defintely say you were too aggressive preflop. In limit, I occasionally raise with TT, though not always. The lowest pocket pair that I always raise preflop with is JJ. Now the reason I do this is so that I am not attached to the hand and it is very easy to throw it away. I also usually just call with two face cards, and a lot of the times is just call with AK. Now I know that a lot of people would not do this, but I don't like getting attached and pot committed to hands that can easily be beat. | |
