| | | | Look. Flush Runners are all over. He saw two diamonds at the flopped and chased it to the river. I've seen way worse beats | |

Any ways that was bad like you said but FOLD if you dont have the best hand. | |

| | | | The person chasing a flush had the chips to do it and it wasn't too expensive for him to chase. There was a lot of money in the pot so if he hit, he would be paid off greatly.
There is always a chaser in limit. With two pair i would have reraised to see if the other guy would have capped it. Then if he did the best he has is trips. So you play more cautious.
But the third one limping had to be chasing when calling the raises. If he only had top pair and two other people in the hand were raising he would get out pretty quick.
It was a tough situation where you had to choose to push out the chaser at the risk of losing a larger amount to a potential set. Or to just call at the risk of losing a smaller amount to a possible set or to the person hitting thier chase.
Either way I don't see how you can be mad. You played it fairly enough, but you had to assume you were stuck in a pickle. It happens in limit. Limit resticts you from getting good reads, so you have to take what you can get and do your best. In this case, you just wern't given enough to make the right move.

| | | | yeah I knew I was in a pickle. And to the people who say if I feel I'm beat with a flush on the river, there is no way I'm laying down my top 2 pair when a 3'rd of a suit comes out on the river when there is 20k+ in the pot. The pot odds just do not allow it...to call would be about 2k to win 20k with top 2 pair. I was worried about a set, but I couldn't put them on a set by the way they played pre-flop. The only thing I was worried about was a flush, and he got it. I finished the tourny in 19'th place. Guess that's okay even though it didn't pay well...only 500 people entered. | |

| | | | To be honest, that wasnt the "WORST bad beat of the week." Yes, now it was tough and you did have the best hand until the river, but with two other players in the hand, one raising you constantly and the other calling everything, you have to figure that your two pair will not hold up. Even though the guy raising you did not have you beat, you had to assume that the guy just calling was chasing. Plus, it wasn't like you were all-in and got knocked out. You lost a fair amount of chips, but it was only 1/3 of your stack. Now that might seem like a lot, but you could have lost a whole lot more. Anyways, people chase their flush draws ALL THE TIME. You can't really do anything about it. Sometimes they get lucky and hit them, usually on the river. It is hard to deal with, but I have seem so many hands that are FAR worse than yours. | |

| | | | I really doubt that the title of this thread is applicable. Especially if you consider that in yesterdays satellite, Crapshoot busted my set of kings with a gutshot straight draw in the river. I was a way bigger favorite there then you were here. And Im sure not even mine is the worst one of the week. | |

| | | | If I may comandeer the thread for just a minute, I think I have a bad beat that gets them all. Now I'm the kind of person who hates to blame "bad beats" because I find that most poker players get into the habit of blaming the cards and not their own play and with that kind of attitude they'll never get better. But really, this sucked.
I can't access the hand history from Empire, but I'll summarize. This was in the Saturday night freeroll for two seats to the 2005 WSOP Main Event. I realize it's a freeroll, but the prize pool is equivalent to $20,000 so I figured people would play a little more reasonably.
Anyway, blinds 25/50 and I have about 1700 in chips (avg = 1150). I'm dealt Ad Kd and raise 5Xbb. I get one caller. Flop comes Js Qd 9d. The person in the pot with me is very aggressive, but I lay out a bet of 250, she calls. Turn comes 6d. I slow play the nut flush and check, she cheks. River comes 6c. I bet, she raises, I reraise her all-in and she calls. She turns over 6h 9s and shows the full house to beat my flush.
Should I have done anything differently?

| | | | nope, shouldn't have done anything different if the board wasn't paired already...if the board had paired up on the turn or was paired on the flop, I would've pushed it. However with 1 card to go, the chances of them making a full house I think are slim to none. That was a pretty bad beat, I don't like to blame the cards either but that one I had just irritated me some. | |

| | | | the worst bad beat of the week, still goes to amyslider, when flop comed AKJ rainbow, im holding AJ so i bet, she raises all in, i call, she turns JJ, one other person says they had an ace in their hand, then i turn an ace on the river to take all of her chips (she had quite a bit at the time i believe). | | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
