Default Hand Caught in the Cookie Jar

My rationale was that I was going to try and isolate the raiser. I am pretty sure that I made the right play here, just got unlucky but I want to see what you guys think... Was I too agressive, or just get unlucky? you decide.

actually, now that I think about it I probably should have just called the bet and not re-raised. The reason is this, the intial raisors bet was enough the make anyone fold who did not have a real hand. Therefor, I would have given myself a chance to get away from the hand had I faced a big re-raise. By re-raising pre-flop, I pot committed myself if I were re-raised, which I was.

sorry, I didnt mean to ask a question and then answer it myself..I guess I was a bit to eager to post my question.

the nice thing about this site is that after writing out your question. the answer comes to you by it's self. give it the opportunity to ponder, or the thought of how you would answer the question in brought to you. good luck in future situations

yeah, it seems that everytime I think I made a mistake in a hand but not quite sure, my first thought is to post it on here. Sometimes, i should just take 5 minutes and if I still cant figure it out, then I should post it.....oh well.

i think the best call here would have been to fold
it was a very high raise originally by nyypi. I dont know how he was playing before but youd have to put him on a high pocket pair or big slick with this kind of raise.

I dont think you should go all in at ring games unless you have a very strong hand pre flop or if the flop comes and you have the nuts or very close to it - its just too risky going all in frequently. You run a very high risk of busting out more times than you should be

i agree fonz, but this was like the third time in 5 hands that the guy went all in. He had lost a big part of his stack earlier and must have been on tilt cause he had shown A5 on one of his all ins and won another one with KJ vs AJ when he hit a king on the turn. I agree with you but in this case, his raise meant almost nothing as it had become routine. I knew my nines were good but I see your point, it was probably a coinflip even if they were good. It was the re-raise afterward that did me in. Afterall, his name was JackTen Boy, so he could have had that..haha.

That was way too aggressive Franky. With that type of hand, I would probably fold unless you are last to act with no other callers, or if this guy had been going all-in a lot.

Kikolo, I think you missed my previous post. I said that he went all in like 3 out of the last five hands with marginal hands......my mistake was that I still had one left behind me so I should have only called, not re-raised. The re-raise was the mistake, because I could not get away from the hand if I were re-raised by the one player left behind me . Now it just so happens that the player left to act behind me was playing tight which MADE MY ALL IN PLAY EVEN WORSE. I wont make this mistake again I hope. I was very confident I had the initial raisor beat ( and I did). But because the player behind me was a rock, there was no need for a re-raise because he would have folded a marginal hand to the original bet. It was a stupid play on my part. I just got caught up in busing JackTenBoy and did not make the correct play. But for only 10$, I think it was worth the valuable lesson.
