He calls with nothing on the flop. I hadnt played a hand for like two levels. wtf? I get his call on the turn, (sorta, even though he didnt have the right odds), but he's calling with Quenn High on the flop? What the hell man!

Now if a member was reporting that he called all the bets and all his chips on a gutshot...what would you be saying...get serious Fink, don't make it sound like the guy had a hand to play off his chips with.

Now you might call 8 outs versus 4 outs or runner runner as the same thing...but I sure don't and besides how do you call off all your chips without a hand and shit outs to boot! Call it what it is...a 4 out miracle draw!

Where are the pot odds anywhere in that hand for him to call any of the bets, that you and mars are always saying is a must have!

A gutshot in the hand is only as good as a 72o pre-flop and 72o pre-flop has more outs.

and the fact is, most people couldn't give a shit about having only 4 outs - the fact is, they have a draw to a potentially strong hand. Just yesterday, in fact, something like this happened to me. 1/2 blinds, about 200 chips each. I raise to pot (9 chips) with KK preflop. 2 callers, with the small blind folding (28 chip pot now). Flop is all low cards - 347. I put out a bet of 20 or so, knowing the donkey to my right will call with virtually anything. Sure enough, he does. Turn comes a 5, and the donkey puts out a bet of 30 (68 chip pot - but he doesn't know anything about betting in terms of the size of the pot or anything). I lay my Kings down face-up, and donkey luckbox is proud to show me A6.

Fact is, most people don't care about odds you are giving them. That doesn't make it okay for you to ignore them, though.

Try to get it through your little head that I am not defending his opponents play. He stated that he understood the call on the turn because of the straight draw but can't understand why his opponent would call on the flop with Q high. Just pointing out that his opponent had a gutshot on the flop which, if you read JayC's post, he doesn't mention it.

I don't know what poker books you got your poker knowledge from, but the ones that I read say Ts,Qd,Ad,8h,9s = Ace high, Queen kicker! and the players pocket cards would be Queen high Ten kicker. I was looking in the hand rankings and could not see where gutshot was listed.

Why would JayC mention it?

He had 8 outs to his straight on the river.
