So...you can make a lot with premiums...you can lose a lot with premiums...or you could win the blinds with premiums.
Hmmm...you know, I think I could do that exact same thing with 72o, let's look at the following (made-up on the spot) scenario:
Start of a 9-man SnG (10/20 blinds, 1500 chips each)
A few limpers, you look down in the big blind with 72o.
Flop comes 227. You check-raise, are put all in and call. A couple things could happen from here:
Opponent holds A2. You win (or sucked out on).
Opponent holds 77. You lose (or pull a 1-outer out of your ass to win).
None of that happens, you check-raise, initial bettor folds (as it was a steal) and you are left with a 150-ish pot.
Or, another scenario:
Start of a 9-man SnG
Everyone folds around, you look down (from the button) to see 72o. You say "phuck it" (incorrect spelling and all), I'm gonna steal with junk like crapshoot.
Flop comes 888. Opponent checks, you bet, opponent calls.
Turn comes 7. Opponent checks, you bet, opponent calls.
Turn comes x. Opponent checks, you go all in, opponent calls.
What could opponent have? AA - sure; 98s (or something like it) - sure; AK - sure
Either way, you have just won or lost a huge pot, or you have just won or lost next to nothing.
