Default What's your read (and where do you think mistakes were made?)

Here's a hand from yesterday. I folded and watched the play.
At showdown I read one hand correctly and one hand incorrectly.

What are your reads on this?

...I'll post the hole cards soon and I'd
like you to say where you feel the mistakes where made.

As for reads on players, that's sometimes difficult to put into written word
- but I'd been at the table around 15 minutes.

The table generally seemed fairly tight, slightly below average pot sizes.

Galneryus, looked a decent player so far, had played tight and solid,
making chips slowly and was probably multitabling, though I hadn't yet checked.

Hp88, arrived 5 minutes after me. Hard to judge in so few hands.
I'd already seen him try a couple of plays - 3xBB raises with any 2 cards, continuation bets etc
Pretty similar style to how I'd been playing at this table really.

It looked like he was eager to get involved and played aggressively
rather than sitting back and waiting.
I wasn't sure how to judge him yet, nothing he'd done suggested he was foolish, but he was possibly a player who may turn out to be of the loose kind. Possibly the type who'd either win or get himself in trouble in a big pot.

The play at this table was infact, I thought, a better standard than most 10c NL tables.

I think Gelneryus had a rag hand that hit the flop. Something like 3/5, 3/9/, 2/3 or maybe 2,4 for an open ended straight draw. Because Hp limped I think there's a good chance he's holding ace rag. Ace 4? Ace 5 for two pair on the turn? Maybe even Ace 3....

But I would have to say that Gelneryus probably won the hand with either trips or a straight. Probably trips.

I would put Gelneryus on 3 5 and Hp on A rag (probably the 5) or vice versa. I base this on their position at the table (Gelneryus was the BB and Hp being in early position), what you have told us about their style and the betting they have done so far. I think one of them definitely has a FH, likely to be Gelneryus.

You both guessed one hand correctly. Same one as I did. Galneryus had a 3.

Ahh...did Hp have pocket A's? That would surely surprise all.

What about their play? When Galneryus calls the flop I put him on a 3.
I decided Hp88 probably had an Ace, when he re-raised the turn, I thought
maybe he'd hit 2 pair and was going to lose his money.

Anyway, he calls with 4-2 preflop. At a 6max tight table it's difficult to criticise. He tries to take the hand on the flop with a pot sized bet and then fortunately hits a good turn.

So what about Galneryus' play? He's hit trips with an Ace on the flop and he's first to act. The check-call seems fine to me. Either way at the turn, it looks like the hand is probably played out as it is.

Did anybody make a bad play here. Did anybody make a mistake?

The only thing I might think could have given Galneryus a better outcome would to have made a substantial bet on the flop. Though it is not easy to see a straight draw there and there is no flush draw. He was probably going to milk it for all he could get hoping to only better his?

Nah I think they both played the hand well. Except the early position pre flop call from HP. That was pretty sick. Other than that I think they both played it well.

Yeah I suppose the limp with 2-4 was doubtable. He was new to the table and had portrayed a fairly loose image in the first hands he played. Showing down some pretty weak hands that he'd raised on. He didn't seem a bad player later on and maybe this was an early assault from him to test the waters. Sometimes that seems to work well at some of the lower level games.
