I think a flat call would be the worst play here, it was either push or fold. I figured with only $2 invested and a strong gut instinct he had aces, it wasn't worth it.
I've gone bust several times in cash games preflop when i was 90% sure they had aces and still went ahead and called/pushed all in against my read (this is the first time i've laid down KK pre-flop). I've been trusting my reads recently and my results have improven considerably (this was probably another factor).
He could have had 10 10 or JJ (or even something like a suited connector and he was just making a play), and if he did have one of those hands i commend him for a good play, it's just a shame i'll never know. Thank you guys for your feedback, much appreciated.
