sorry Cali. I love you, but how do you make that call? Unless you have a super user account???? LOL You have no pair and no draw, it would appear. That poor man probably busted up his computer, and quit poker!! ha ha

What are you like.......????

I can't possibly comment on this hand.....the title says it all....!!!!!!

Ohhh I can't help myself........If I don't say it now it will just roll about in my mind in a mass of confusion........dear oh dear.....how lucky are you......???

I understand the 600 in on the flop, you get to limp your blinds and betting out on the flop shows that you have hit a nice part of it and you may just get the pre-flop limper off the pot and steal them blinds with ya' over 1 card.

However the second.....THE SECOND he comes back with an all-in raise you have just got to get yourself off that pot there and then.....

I wouldn't of made that call in a buck game let alone a $20 game. His play pre-flop worked out perfect for him and he gets near on an ideal flop......I know it wasn't for all ya' chips but 1100 in to protect 600 with no hand is as I'm sure your aware not dangerous play but reckless play.....yes that right Calli.....I said reckless.....!!!!

I can't say nice one, good hand as it was bloody awful......however I am glad still that you won it........friendship and poker, their funny old things....!!!!

Donkey...!!!!!

THF Player of the Year
I'm going to defend Cali's play...a little...

I'm not saying I think it's a great play but I think it looks worse because we can see the opponent has Aces.

Much depends here on what we've seen and think of the opponents play.
I_am_Shake (1900 in chips)
At 200 BB's he's in need of chips soon.
He's in first position and has to pay the blinds over the next two hands after this.

CalifNaughti (5490 in chips)
-200 BB = 5290
-600 bet= 4690

I_am_Shake (1900 in chips)
-200 call = 1700
-1700= allin

When I_am_Shake bets allin Cali has 4690 chips.
The pot stands at 2800 and Cali needs to call 1100
- the pot is offering just over 2.5 to 1 odds.

Cali still has got 3580 left if she loses.
If she wins she's in a great position to cash.

It certainly looks like the opponent has a hand.
I'd think he had ..ok it's a folding hand isn't it

but..
ok, there's a small chance he's hit 2nd or 3rd pair on the flop.
He's playing a draw or an Ax.
Maybe he's made moves like this before?
Maybe he's lost chips recently?
We sense some desperation and call with possibly a 3 to 1 chance of
hitting something and knowing that with a good result we are in line for a win and with a bad result we are still in the game with a stack large enough to work with.

It's a donk(ish) gamble but we've seen worse plays I think

I'm not so sure what the opponent was holding is that relevant to the play here......

Now I'm going to make myself seem like a right donk!!!!

As I'm sure your aware I'm not an odds kind of player.....I mean I am but I don't sit there and calculate what my pot odds are, more what my chances of losing or winning are......it's a different mind set of this I'm aware which is why I don't often reply to HHs and any that I have I have never mentioned odds or percentages as I know I wouldn't know what I'm talking about and therefore would be well out of my league.....I have great respect for those that do and I understand what I'm reading when I'm reading such posts etc, just it's not how (rightly or wrongly) my thought processes regarding poker works.

My thoughts would go as I said in my post......because I have a pretty good idea that I'm losing to the all-in raise and I have very little if anything in way of a hand why would I bung more chips in because I have the odds to call.....I'm losing, I know I'm losing I was only aiming to steal in the first place...I will not to the best of my ability get my chips in when I know I'm miles behind and I'm going for a huge outdraw.

I_am_Shake has played a good pre-flop limp and now he is aiming to get paid off anyone that paired up ($20 buy-in is a respectable amount) and far from expects to be called by K9 not matching as it turned out Calli won and as she played the odds it can be justified.....I would be interested in the level of justification If the ole' shoe was on the other foot...???

THF Player of the Year
Ohh I'm just being awkward and giving another side to the hand.

I think a fold is probably the right choice but I just thought I'd give some reasons why a call might be a move you could decide to make in that situation.
I was just seeing what people might think.

I understand everyones points, but c'mon? Hasnt anyone else ever made just a terrible play and got lucky. I know for damn sure I have, everyone makes a bad play and then gets rewarded. Nice one Cali I just hope it wasnt his last $20, now thatd be a tough one to take.
