Thank you rw for the kind words. Its kinda hard to defend a play like this, even for me. I can only say that we have all been guilty of a move like this that has paid off in the long run. I want everyone to know that I do NOT play like this normally, most of you know this. I have done something like this twice in my entire online poker experiance. Nothing I am really proud of but both times it has paid off for me. I probularry will never make moves likethis again. I KNOW I just got lucky...is all. Happens to all of us sometime or another.

Remember what the article was about that I posted yesterday? If a bad play doesnt win once in awhile then there would be no poker players to play against. If I had lost..there is always another game to play. This has been my way of thinking from the begining.

A great example of not limping in with AA. Especially as a smaller stack. An all in pre-flop and he wins the blinds and plays on. Cali could afford to do what she did there and thats the great thing when up against the smaller stacks. How many times when your the small stack and go all-in with AK and are called by the BS, and he shows 83 or some other garbage, and sucks out on you. If I have AA and are short stacked, I'm tickled to death to win the blinds.

One of the myths of poker is "because I could afford it". You need the result of losing to change nothing. That is rarely the case. One guy doubled me up by calling on garbage and when I asked why, that was what he said. 5 hands later he was all-in and all out to someone with a few more chips than he had. Now, had he not lost those chips to me, he would have still been in the tourney, much lower down the order true, but not crippled. So, could he really afford the chips he lost to me by playing a crap hand? No he could not.

Even as chip leader, if you slip as much as one place you could be out next hand, for the luxury of having played crap against a short stack the previous hand. Those short stacks are likely to be going out soon enough, so what's the rush?

this is FAR from a "great example" of not limping with AA... He got his chips in as a 97% (yes, you read that right) favorite and lost. I'd take that any day of the week.

Know what I hear when you talk like this? You remember the teachers voice in the Charlie Brown cartoons? Only question that I have for you is, would YOU have called in her position? No? Didn't think so.

She knows it was a bad play, thats the reason the thread was made. Not much need to defend it

No offense Cali but that play was terrible call there is not much you could have that would beat him but I can see a little bit how you could call that with him being a smaller stack and you could be thinking that he has a lower pair then your two over cards and have a 30-70 shot at taking down the pot but there is a defense for both sides I personaly wouldnt make that play but hey cant argue with success

If they were close to the bubble and Cali had villain on AJ, AK, or some similar 3 outer position, I'd can't fault her play. Granted, she is not getting proper pot odds, but it may be worth it to knock out an opponent.

If not, well...I agree with everyone but Ref

Ahhhh....I get ya'.....so these donks that keep sucking out on us are In fact players of the same calibre as us......only they are knowingly making a bad play in the "hope" of getting lucky and are putting all their skill and knowledge to one side just to play that hand....!!!!hehehehehe

I would say I never knowingly make a bad play I am always enlightened after the hand ......On occasion I might go for a total suckout on the river but there is still a level of calculation involved......but I would not, could not bung my chips in on a hand like this when I'm in full knowledge of the fact that I'm odds on to be a way behind......It's not as If Calli was even the table CL....she has only half the stack of the table leader......who would feel more threatened by a player with 5k in front of them (half his stack) compared to someone with 3k in front of them (3rd of his stack).

What I mean is I don't feel that Calli's chip count was sufficient enough to make this play......maybe the the tables leaders was but yet still why call an all-in of 11oo more to protect 600 when you don't have a hand....????

I know this was a bad play, look at the title I gave the thread. Like I said I think everyone is guilty at one time or another of making a play like this even on a bluff. Not my normal play as you all know. The 20$ MTT at night is one of my favorite MTT's on PokerStars.

I shouldnt have any more Donkey Plays in my Poker Lifetime But I appreciate everyones input on this subject.
Cali

Well thank you kindly Sonny. I actually was a lil embarressed to post it but figured why not? Maybe we can all learn a lil something from it. I never put him AA...so I expected to lose when I saw it. I know I got lucky..very lucky.
