OK, so they see one hand you played with 8-6 - so what? -
The most difficult player to play against is an aggressive player who obviously has a good hand sometimes, but is also aggressive when he's in a pot with inferior cards. The hard part is accessing if he' strong or not. I wouldnt be too concerned and start changing your plays just because you have shown one or two poor hands.
If you're up against an aggressive player, who's on a rushand he takes one particular hand down with an 8-high flush, does it make such a difference to how you play him? Surely you already know that he isnt always going to be in a pot with premiums.
I do get what you are saying though and I suppose a lot here depends on your opponents but I don't think you should necessarily adjust your style just because you've shown a small hand.
Infact, if I regarded a player as a fairly strong player, and I see him make a play with 8-6, then it would make me even more wary of him, because I now know that those plays are sometimes a part of his game. | Well, a lot has to do with the opponents. Again - this was at 5/10c NL - you aren't going to get many quality players here. Because of this, not too many people will take the view that I'm a strong opponent, just some donk who got lucky with 68s. At higher levels, yes, I'm sure it could work the other way around, but I'm only just starting to get the b/r to play at those levels, simply because of my Bugsy's league wins.

| | | | Yeh, I don't play at high limits either and I agree it's all about opponents and their own read on yourself. If they are capable of thinking that far - which apparenly some arent.
I got shouted at the other day because with blinds high and no callers and against medium to high cards, I was raising from late in a HORSE/razz game with an A or 2 showing.
They were terribly angry and said I was a poor player because I raised everytime, even if I didnt have a good hand!

| | | | I agree, your reads are the most important. I like to make that raise with trash but I won't show unless it hits and I take it down. I try to maintain a tight/agressive image, you show one play with garbage and the tight part of that is out the window. That and you lose respect at the table. Better make sure the rest of the plays at the table are valid.
On the flip side, any time I see a play like that I know that the next one will be valid and that is probably my most sure read.
Playing in a live tourney, a guy at the table open pushed, I looked at TT and called. It was early and I knew he was buying the blinds. He showed 57s. He ended up winning the hand with a str8 but later in the tourney he open pushed again and I folded my AKs. The dude to my left called and he showed KK and won.
It's a great strategy but you're kinda limited after you make the move. I try not to get too cute with my play and be as solid as I can. | |
