Why would you call that preflop and fold to that flop?

You are not calling for the value of the set, the raise killed your pot odds. If you aren't going to call that bet on the flop, you need to fold preflop and save your money for when you do want to fight.

In any normal game with those bets, nines are no good, but in 5/10 cent people seem to play anything. I agree with the previous poster, you have to make a decision on whether your nines are good or not and go with it. Granted there is a possibility one of ur opponents flopped a set, more likely they are overplaying a big ace or top pair.
