Fold preflop.

I'm a tight Omaha player, it's really easy to get in to trouble playing marginal hands. You need AT LEAST one of these kings to be suited before I like that hand. You have no flush value, and very little straight value. Almost the only thing you can hope to see on the flop for your hand is a king. It's hard to see a pair of kings as being "bad" but I like to think of Omaha hands completely in terms of postflop play, and an over pair of kinds just isn't that strong.

How about a hand like Ad-8d-7x-9x? Would you call a raise with this hand, I was reading in supersystem that this is a good hand to play with cause it has tons of value what do you think?

Eh, I don't think so - think of it this way, unless you flop the nut flush or full house, you'll be quite vulnerable. If you hit the straight who knows what your up against, most likely you are beat by a better straight or will likely get outdrawn by someone holding trips/two pair or a better flush/straight draw. Fold it immediately.

You read that in supersytem? What page, I'll look it up.

In any event no. Against a raise, you need 4 cards that work together. With Ad-8d-7x-9x your hands are: A8s (moderate hand, bad vs a raise) A7o (junk) A9o (junk) 78o 89o(slightly better junk) 79o (junk)

Against a raise double suited aces or kings are good (Like As Ad Ts Jd). Or a decent drawing hand like 8 9 T J with at least 1 combination being suited, better if you are double suited.

It was the section by lyle berman, I remember reading him say, if you get a good flop you can have a rap draw, with the nut flush draw?

Lyle would be supersystem 2, I'll look it up tonight.

Are you sure he said to play that against a raise? It's playable in late position if all you have to do is limp, but it's just not a good hand at all against a raise.

THF Player of the Year
I can't see that being considered a good starting hand either. I suppose the value might come if you can check preflop or see a flop very cheaply with good odds- you'd need to hit an extremely good flop though.
