Default why to never slow play AK...

i have no clue why people slow play AK preflop, he let me take control and i never gave up. i dont like slowplaying any big hands, but if the situation allows it i may slow play AA, but NEVER AK, its not a made hand, its stupid.

I agree about not slowplaying AK. But I doubt in this hand it would have made any difference. You probably would have called a standard preflop raise. Then after the flop, it appears he really liked his pair. He probably would have paid you off anyway.

Actually, there are very few times that I slowplay preflop. Just to many cards to come. The situation has to be just right. For example, in a THF game I was playing I was sitting just righ of Fonz. I had noted that on a couple occassions when I was small blind and just called the big blind, with no one else in the hand, he would move all in with a moderate hand (usuall a small PP). On one hand I picked up KK in the small blind. Its folded around to me, so I just flat call hoping he has a decent hand. Sure enough, he moves all in with 88 and I call. They hold up and I bust him out. The only reason I didnt raise preflop is because I knew if he had a moderate hand he would fold, but if I just call he may try and push me off the hand and pick up the blinds.

THF Player of the Year
I like to raise decent with AK, cut the field down to one or two opponents and get to see a flop.

The only times where I would consider a slow play are in situations similar to The Professor described or in a heads-up game.

Looking at the hand from Javlin389t's point of view. What would be your thinking and your play preflop? You make a 4XBB raise Rw and get two calls before he plays.

It might of been his mind to see a flop for 80 chips and maybe let it go. Fair enough I think.
I think the mistake he made was to check the flop.
His bet on the turn seems neither here nor there and his call was worse.
