That is one of the reasons why I don't play 5 card draw much anymore rw. 5 card draw is more reliant on mathmatics and luck than anyother form of poker and skill doesn't really pay off in the long run in 5 card draw. When playing 5 card draw online it is really hard to tell of the other persons hand because of the lack of physical tells. 5 card is reliant on physical tells because you can't get much info on the other players hand due to the limited rounds of betting and the cards switching all the time.

very good point, all you can really go on is how many they draw and then how they bet

I would have just called his raise there, my reason being that villain had only drawn one card - you can put him on 1 of a 3:

1) straight draw, even if he hits you beat him
2) flush draw, it's hard to figure how strong of a flush, but J-T high flush draw isn't the strongest
3) 2 pair or trips, drawing to a full house

Now, in 2 of the 3 situations, if he hits his draw card, you're beat. Unless this player has made a habit of bluffing on missed draws, I just call and hope to end up on top, not make the assumption that my J-T high flush is solid.

Draw poker may or may not go as deep as some other forms of poker but skill will pay off Bass if you know where to look. Especially if you are playing with fish as mistakes made from lack of experience to draw poker are much more costly and expierianced players will capitalize on it.

Rw, I believe that was misplayed on your part, let me explain. Firstly, since you only drew 2 cards when you didnt raise before the draw, it tells your opponents you either have a pair with a face card or you have a 2 card draw to a flush or straight playing from the blind. They will think you hold a pair or two-pair/trips (if you hit) after you drew.

The bet was ok when you were first to act after the draw (i would have bet a little more), but Z28king raised...recalling he discarded only 1 card and did not raise before the draw, he obviously hit his draw.

It was also pretty obvious Scarlette hit two pair and was hoping you wouldn't come over the top (let me know if you want me to explain this if you dont know why). You know you have him/her beat but Z28king could have hit either a flush or straight (more often its a flush in draw).

In these situations you want to avoid commiting too many chips, you want to gain chips off safer hands and steals. It would be unfortunate to get so little chips off that flush but your small bet to lead out cost you in this situation, it would have been better to bet a little more. You couldn't have possibly known that when you bet but all it means is that the wrong situation popped up and you have to take what is given to prevent a bust. It was not necessarily a bad play to bet that little, just the wrong one for that situation, and again you couldnt have known that at the time you were betting.

Commiting all your chips really was a prayer you had him beat as you couldnt tell how high his flush was. All it takes is to put all your eggs in one basket one too many times and you bust in tourneys. Try to avoid doing that in situations that are this unsure.

ty cowboy, i see your points. i belive i have an edge over most of these players at low limits because of the fact that i belive i have good poker theory, which carries over to every game. obvously i dont know specific strategys but i picked up on how to put them on hands by what they drew pretty quick. this is actually the only game i have played that ididnt finish in the money, and i dont think ive gotten great cards either. but these are great points and they should help me, thanks cowboy.
