Maybe if you weren't so aggressive on the flop with that check-raise, you may have been able to get away, putting him on a made flush draw. Other than that...don't really know what you can do.

Oh I know what you were thinking..I'm simply saying the apparent made flush can get a dominated player to slow down and lose less than they were originally going to.

I think you played that well. There was no way out, you were meant to lose all your money on that one.

Here's a question - why did you simply call his massive reraise on the flop, why didn't you just make the final reraise to push him all in?

limping on the button with A9 is very bad.
the pot on the flop is $2, so you should bet 2/3 pot or pot.
as played i think its hard to get away from this hand.

Well i was thinking of the 4-4 but i don't know really, i wasen't going to fold so i might just have moved allin there, i just got a bit worried but i coulden't fold it either.

Second best nuts is hard to fold, but as he just called the BB from SB i should have putted him on maybe 4-4. I thought he coulden't have slow played an overpair or something, but he might just have A4 or something we all know people can play like that with that kind of flop.

THF Player of the Year
Agree with what D says and I immediatley thought a preflop raise was the best play if your getting in with A9 from that position at a 6 man table.

In defence of DJ though, we do also have to take into account the situation : DJ's table image, his previous actions and his reads and expectations of the others players. We all like to mix it up sometimes and a limp with A9 could possibly of suggested itself here, we don't really know.

Still, a preflop raise here does look a stronger play to me.
