Default Please explain?

First, let's look at my stats for this SnG:

During current Hold'em session you were dealt 45 hands and saw flop:
- 2 out of 7 times while in big blind (28%)
- 0 out of 7 times while in small blind (0%)
- 1 out of 31 times in other positions (3%) AK all in preflop
- a total of 3 out of 45 (6%)
Pots won at showdown - 1 of 1 (100%) the AK held up
Pots won without showdown - 2 separate all in with AK not called, one hand the small blind folded

Now, the hand:

PokerStars Game #7558828225: Tournament #38667446, $3.00+$0.40 Hold'em No Limit - Level VII (100/200) - 2006/12/22 - 17:33:54 (ET)
Table '38667446 1' 10-max Seat #9 is the button
Seat 2: siggyg (3460 in chips)
Seat 3: SickThings (895 in chips)
Seat 5: k06mars (1515 in chips)

*** TURN *** [7c Qs 4s] [8c]
*** RIVER *** [7c Qs 4s 8c] [Td]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
siggyg: shows [7s 8d] (two pair, Eights and Sevens)
SickThings: shows [5h 7h] (a pair of Sevens)
siggyg collected 2710 from pot
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 2710 | Rake 0
Board [7c Qs 4s 8c Td]
Seat 2: siggyg (small blind) showed [7s 8d] and won (2710) with two pair, Eights and Sevens
Seat 3: SickThings (big blind) showed [5h 7h] and lost with a pair of Sevens
Seat 5: k06mars folded on the Flop
Seat 9: belette8 (button) folded before Flop (didn't bet)

Now, could anyone please explain the thinking of these two players? Granted, it was a steal attempt that failed...but I did nothing to make them think a steal was something I'd do (my first attempt all game!). Any comments?

That is a weird one... especially on the bubble. my guess is that the short stack was pushing any 2 suited or high cards regardless, but what was 87o thinkin?
