dont quite understand why you didnt bet on the turnthere xtra - its setting up the bluff from your opponent true he could have kx and be slow playing it - pot oaks are very hard to read and though i dont agrree with the way you played the hand i cant blame you for the fold on the river as a slowplay of kx or having ax are probably as reasonable holdings as a post oak

Ben, you taught me that a Post Oak bluff is to call a bet with nothing in order to try to steal the pot on a later betting round. Player in question missed his flush and sensed weakness in xtra's check on the turn. Stevie made a pot sized bet as a last attempt to take the pot. This move contradicts with what you know as a Post Oak bluff. But I looked up what a Post Oak really is and this is what I found:

A player executing the post oak bluff bets a small amount relative to the size of the pot, in order to create the impression that he is trying to lure the other player into the pot (as if he had a winning hand--this kind of bet with a strong hand is called a "here kitty kitty" bet). When successful, the other player(s) fold rather than fall into the perceived trap.

The term itself carries derogatory connotations because the play is often seen as "gutless," to quote Doyle Brunson who popularized the term in his book Super System, and who claims that he never makes the play.

The description given here is something else entirely.

Wow, those are some blinds. I would have never raised with QJo in early position. If someone reraises you have to lay them down. But you had position on him and he showed weakness twice by checking. True, he could be slowplaying his Kx but in this situation I would have put him on A2 or a low pocket pair. That's why you should have bet the turn when you hit one of your cards. If you would have called a 240k bet from Stevie if he had bet on the turn then you should have made that same bet on the turn.

If I had played the same way you did then I would have folded on the river also. No way anyone can call his bet on the river or put him on a missed flush draw. I think the reads you have on someone are a very important factor in these kind of situations.

Bad play,I made a few late, came back and deleted them after I rested(posts above),was that bad!!!First time Ive ever been exhausted after playing. Was mentally fried. Not sure why,but believe me I was looking for help to keep my thoughts straight, but I guess thats part of the game
The way the table was flowing the raise didnt bother me and would do it again.
The turn I basically said take it.Wasnt too worried about losing the chips, but his bet on the river just gave me the feel he didnt have it.Looking back it was a smart fold by the book, and calling wouldve been a stupid risk.
Hit a hand after that and got it back to get me to the final table, but I made 2 or 3 bad plays on the final table I can remember that cost me alot, and 1 would make this seem like a brilliant move.
No wonder Kaart keeps beaing me!!!
Youre both right, but dont tell anyone I said that!!!
