I am wondering if I played this smart or should I have played it differently and possibly gotten more. Any help with this so I can improve my game would be greatly appreciated.

Well, you knocked a guy out cause you checked the nuts and you let him hit the turn, that's what you got to do when you have a good hand, let them hit and then crack them.

The call preflop with k-7 when 3 more to act is on the other hand a bit loose, i would have folded.

Look at it this way - let's say you call 40 and miss (a more likely scenario). You fold, boo hoo, 40 is lost, o well. Now let's say a couple hands down the road you're dealt the nuts - 4 of a kind, just like this hand. You manage to get 2 players to put their chips in, just like you did here - it also means that you're missing out on 40 chips from each of them.
Or, an even more likely scenario, you get a piece of the flop - say, KJ3. You bet your top pair the entire way and are called down the entire way by one player - who just happens to have KT. You just lost a decent portion of your stack which can't be used when you get dealt quads later down the road.
Finally, look at the REAL long term investment - just wait until you hit antes - 40 chips is 1+ antes, and it could be just enough to justify waiting for a better hand just one more time. I know, 1 ante doesn't seem like much - but would you rather be forced to go all in with T6o or wait one more hand, and hope for the better?

I agree with DJ & D. The phrase that misleads people is that a bare K is favourite preflop against a random hand. What that means is a single random hand, not several of them. It also only applies when the betting hasn't already ruled out most of the hands the bare K would be favourite against, in other words the hand you are up against no longer qualifies for the phrase "random hand".

Any lower high card is not favourite against a single random hand, let alone several of them. But hey, get heads up and the cards barely matter.

Well thanks for all the input I will keep all this in mind. As for antes I have not ever seen them in these games. Now if this had been a bigger multi table game I would have folded this pre- flop as suggested before.

Fold prefop everytime, against a totally random hand you're only a 55.187/44.813% favourite. You might want to see cheap flops early but with hands like suited connectors and small pairs. Unless you hit a monster with K7o (like KKK or KK7 on the flop) you're ditching you hand wasting 40 chips that are vital later on. What happens if the flop comes KQ6, looks like you've hit but any real resistance and you'll probably fold as KQ is a possibility etc

As played I bet the flop, probably around half. People aren't going to have much of the board obviously but you'll probably get action with small pairs or Ax hands. I'd check any turn and probably bet pot or overbet hoping someone with a boat thinks you're stealing.
