Yeh I'd be folding K7 in that situation. I wouldnt even limp with 20 chips here. Realistically- what are you hoping to hit on the flop that makes you strong? It's a garbage hand - you'd be better actually raising big there and representing a hand rather than calling - either way it's not a play to consider.

Ignoring that, post-flop, I think you played it great

The only reason I even considered calling this hand is because of the good starters I had previously and nothing would come of them. If you played chit during this particular game then you were in. So I figured what the hell I will try one chit hand like the rest are hittin on and low and behold I got LUCKY. Now would I play this again maybe or maybe not all depends on blinds( whether I am a BB or not). But as I stated before I have taken notes on all the good tips and info you all gave.

k7 is a semi trash hand - its not trash like 105 where you really have little scope of winning a hand - it is a hand with poor near nut potential but will still win a moderate number of pots. k7 is a hand i would play before a7 any day.

There is nothing wrong with playing semi trash but there are two things you need to bear in mind

1) you cannot play hand like this (non premiums) often and expect to make a profit

2) if you are at a table where there is moderate amounts of raising preflop this hand is best avoided.

From what you have said playing k7 may not have been too bad an idea there but you have to remember that trash and semi trash hands should be the exception rather than the rule. I generally reckon that if someone is seeing more than 20% of flops they are seeing too many.

There are exceptions, there are some players who can see loads of flops and get good value doing so, more often than not it is players being too loose with no real positive expected value for their bets. As a general rule I would try to play hands with better near nut potential such as qj ( this is a total trash hand and people often lose with this because they treat it like a proper hand but it is THE best trash hand out there - hit big and your profits can be huge (take ak10, qjx, aqj etc).

K7 can fair quite well against 1-4 opponents given you are calling in mid position you could easily get lots of action after you including k10 etc.

I have no problem with people playing trash in specific hands its whether it is one offs or a general trait that is the issue. I would say on the exact circumstances of the specific hand k7 would be a break even hand but that is assuming you maximise your profitss, minimise your losses and dont get reraised very often. You should watch about what hands you play generally though.

finally as an afterthought if you are trying to advertise as weaker than you are to get value you could check/call this down to the river to show you had little and are loose but at this level it is not worth risking chips to advertise in this way - profits are much easier found most of the time.

I have to disagree with what Ben calls a trash hand: QJ. QJs is the best hand against a medium pocket pair and a favourite against low pocket pairs according to THF's poker odds calculator. And it doesn't even matter if the pair has a card of the same suit as QJ.

Chris, don't let this hand where you get lucky influence your future decisions. The more you play you will know you should never call with this hand unless you have a very good postflop play.

dont get me wrong kaart qj is one of my favorite hands after kk, AQ and kj it is a hand that is great fun to play. It is the most overplayed and underpraised hand in poker (was going to make that a idol question comment on....lol then i realised there was probably enough preflop stuff already in it) it is still in my view semi trash like a10 etc think of it as viewing a pint as half empty rather than half full
