Your postflop play on the first hand is bad, and you stuck your money in while behind. He has 9 outs to the flush, 3 to the straight, 3 to make 2 pair, 2 to make three of a kind, 19 outs. You are way behind on that flop. His bet represents a made hand, so call him and bet a safe turn card. Seeing the turn card here would probably keep you from going broke.
On the second hand, if you are really short in chips thats not a bad hand to open push with, but in the BB it's probably worth checking and seeing the flop, unless you are going to be comitted anyhow. If you only have 2x the big blind left, moving in is fine because it will probably win you more money, if you have 5x, it will probably loose you money.
