He was trying to bluff you off your hand, it should have worked honestly. Or at least you call and see the flop, but I hate pushing that hand preflop, you are a dog to any ace or pair, which is what they most likely will have.

well good enuff....my stack was getting low and blinds were coming up...im surprised i got halfway through the tourney..honestly that was the best starting hand i had all night.....had to make a move...all i needed was a decent stack...the big stacks on the table were horrible and guess how they got that biig....because they suck out...terrible terrible o well...

At a upper-level buy in, I would agree with Adaon. But, it's not..so my explanation: look at the buy in.
