When I first started playing online poker, I played in freerolls, and did pretty well making final tables with 5k to 8k entrants, but winning squat. So I started playing in real money games, and found out quickly that you can't be successful playing like a freeroller in real money games, and adjusted my style to make some money. I'm finding more and more, that in these low level buy ins, that at least half the players are freerollers trying out some real money buy-ins. They make the "bad play at the right time" and end lots of superior players games or take chunks out of their bankrolls.
In the SnGs I play, I have now started to limp in with monster hands, because if I would put out a big raise I would still get called by 3 or 4 other players with mediocre hands who will stay in the hand with any runner-runner possibility regardless of how much I raise on the flop and turn, and suckout. I bet pretty consevatively until the river when I know where I stand in the hand. If that river card hits with that straight or flush card, at least I can fold and not lose a hugh ammount of my chips. It sucks to have to play like that but, its the only way to survive with a chance at making the cash.
