Although I did have a K, I don't think there is any way I could have won that pot any other way than a big bluff. I had to put them to a test for nearly all their chips by pushing all of mine. I wish I could have seen what they were playing, but I am certain after they called my 300 chip bet that they had to have something.
I have been working on building up this kind of aggression. With varying degrees of success. I am too timid. I have to be able to make the naked bluff, and follow that with a continuation bet. I am finding that waiting for cards and then trying to play them, will only take you so deep in a tournament. Of course like any other strategy, there is a time and place for everything. This play could have blown up in my face a dozen different ways, but it didn't because I grabbed the balls to bet it like I had it. As anyone who has played against me knows, I view all-in as a last resort, not a tool to use regularly as some do. If I have the nuts and someone goes all-in, then I will call, but that is different. To push it all in first?
Well at least you guys know I am capable of it!
