i wasnt asking what he should have done. i probably would have called in his position as well. i was asking what you would do in my position. i was not criticizing his play, instead i want to know what you would do if you were me.

Well I think that the general feel is that you played the hand well. I know I would have played it similarly.

Not sure what I would have done here since reacting a the moment is much different than looking over these posts and ponerdering the issue. I think a players style has a lot to do with what most people do in this situation. I am a pretty conservative player and I don't think I would have pushed in on the flop unless this plyers was a notorious bluffer. I have some general noteds beside my computer, related mostly to ring games but the numbver one item on my list is Top pair Top kicker nort worth all your chips. This being the case I think a substancial reraise was inorder with the idea if he comes back over the top I'm laying this hand down.I twould have cost me 1/3 of my chips but so be it. Part of this has to do with weather are not you were at a point in this tourney you were willing to risk all your chips on a hand where you were a slight favorite. In other words would you have still made the play if you had saw his cards before you pused in? If so you for suer made the right move and just got outdrawn. If not you should have rerasied and bailed once you saw he was commited wheather he hit a set or two pairs or had a draw,since you wanted a better spot to risk all your chips.

Like I said it's easy to second guess. I don't think you made a bad play it was one of those situations were a players style made a number of plays the right play in this hand. You were already in the money I assume so this play could have gotton you easily into the top 5. not a bad risk reward.

If you had the ability to see his hole cards before the flop would you have played it any differently? Likely not.... so well played.

One thing to note here though is what kind of opponent your up against. I'm guessing he's the kind of guy who has about a 30-35% flops seen. This probably means he's getting ansy at this point in the tourney for some action. Only the best players are disciplined enough to continue a tight aggressive style late in tourneys, this guy is definitely not of this type. Were you trying to take the blinds down right there or encourage a call? I'm guessing you were trying to take down the blinds. This guy wanted to call and you gave him the right price. He got lucky and you were out of the tourney. I would have played it the same way but maybe a larger preflop raise was in order here, just my $0.02.
