I never said he did, I said that could've been one of his options.

I just think you guys are giving his opponents way too much credit... you have to remember he is playing .25/.50 at PokerStars and how many posts have we had here about the "donks on Stars". I think the all in is the most profitable move over time at those limits.

Love the strategy here, Ive put up a couple similar posts where theres been about $10 in the pot and I push for another $50 with the (near) nuts. The thing is, people love being the sheriff, and if they think they have a chance, or that you're stealing they go for it much more often than you think. As Fink said, and in my experience, it is more profitable to push with a ridiculous overbet and get called 1 in 10 times rather than to bet $3 and have them flat call. When they do bite you get a huge payoff, so keep tryin, m8. It is a fantastic strategy to use online, as people aren't as careful with their money in low limits.

Edit: If they fold, DO NOT SHOW YOUR HAND, make them think it might have
been a bluff and then when you try it again they may call.

A nice strategy that one - I normally whack in $10 bet on the river at that level if I have the nuts, to try and coax a call. But think I will try 'all in' from now on and keep a record of what happens.

i dont know if i like this or dont. i have to agree with gordy. i think playing aggresively the whole way would have been more profitable. obviosuly you wanna give him one chance to out a be out there, but lets say you bet the wole way down. Hes gonna call. he mght think you were betting just an ace and trying to get him to fold instead of show down. and you know hes calling you all the way down because you have to know hes got an ace. a preflop raise and calls the flop. it has ace written all over it so you woul have gotten him to pay you off or even push all in overtop of you. but i see your point about the whole online thing and how most people will call an allin. o well, at least you won the pot. good job
