2 reason, first and most likely he is an idiot, second he was soft playing a friend or a third he hit the wrong button.

I'm going with the idiot scenario. I saw a similar thing the other day when this guy had the nut straight and just called someone who had the lower straight. People at the table asked him why he didn't re-raise with the nuts and he refused to believe us that he had an unbeatable hand. Some people in cash games are so skeptical and jaded by "bad beats" that they tend not to recognize an unbeatable hand when it comes there way.

Fourth possibility: He thought any bet wouldjust induce a fold, so he tried to trap the other guy into betting into him?

yeah i was gonna say what pokerref said.. too many people play too many tables and a simple mistake like that will cost you a few dollars but keep doing it and it will add up... playing too many tables not realizing what they had or probaly where they even stood in the hand...
