Default How would you have played this hand...?

This was in a $5 tourney the avg chip stack was about 38,000
68 people left out of 1400...splasher24 has been playing at my table about 30 mins... they were rasieing before the flop 3 to 4 x bb alot with not so good cards like 10 Jo, J5 suited, 78 suited, K9o, Q3o if anybody rasied them after they rasied 3 or 4 x bb they would fold right away or fold right away on flop if they didnt get anything...

i thought along time before i made my bet.. I figured they didnt have anything that great like AK AQ AA KK QQ anyways i was out in 68th place
after looking at the hand if i would have just called there 3200 more and seen the flop and i bet i think they would of stayed around for the flush draw i would of proably of gone all in on the flop... this hand has me all confused...
How would you play it? Please all input is helpfull (good and bad) as this game is alwasy a learning process and you can never learn to much...

Hugebucks....

How COULD you have played it differently? You said you did not put him on a monster pair or even an AK, so you believed YOU HAD THE BEST HAND!!!

There was 7875 in the pot when it came around to you pre-flop.....which was 1/3 of your chip stack.

You had the opportunity to increase your chip stack from 23,000 to 31,000. Why wouldn't you push all-in? Assuming you read him correctly (and without knowing the complete texture of the table), why would you let someone into that pot for less than your all-in? At that point of the tournament, you want to increase your chips for the final run anytime and anyway you can.

I think you played it perfectly.

TZB

PS: Don't second guess yourself on this one.....he called your all-in with KQs.

IMO, you were losing all your chips whatever you did. If he is willing to call the 18000 more preflop then he certainly isnt folding it when he flops his draw had you only called. Only way you could POSSIBLY have gotten away from it was if you call preflop, slowplay your set by checking and having him check behind you (Im betting he'd bet with his flush draw anyways) and be able to read him for the flush on the turn. Yeah, you were screwed whatever ya did. Sorry man.

first off i don't think the end result of this woud have changed no matter what. An alternative play couda have been a reaise preflop just double his raise. Based on your description of this player he had played some junk which means it is vey ahrd to put him on a hand. The odds were good that he might have junk but you could have found out by making a smaller reraise since you han mentioned he woudl fold his junk to almost any pressure. He would be getting 4 to 1 to call your reraise and I'm sure he would. I think at the point you would have know he did have a hand. But since the flop hit you hard you surely would have moved in. At this point there would have been 20,600 + your all in of 13,563 for a total of 34,163 in the pot. He had 133771 left so he was not quite getting odds to chase the flush, but he probably would have called anyway.

Anyway I think a reraise here would have gotton you some better information without risking our entire stack against this loose player. Just shows the advangte of playing a little loose if you can stay out of trouble..

Well mate. You played it well from what I can see. The guy is a general nutcase and obviously doesn't care much for the money that he pays to enter these tournaments.

You got all your chips in when you were ahead. In poker this is all that you can do... let the cards do the rest and pray. You were simply unlucky.

I agree. There's no way you could have folded a set on the flop, and the only play you would have had then would have been all-in, you would have been in such bad shape chip-wise. One of those you just have to take your medicine on.
