Default looking for passwords is no big deal

I may not have posted here alot, but i am a buzzy man, i have 5 kids and work "sometimes"..lol
but the one thing i will be talking to FONZ about, is the abuse of power i see hear today.
this site was made for freeroll sluts/whores..just ask the FONZ himself.
as for asking for the passwords, some are new and dont realize that all passwords are posted in the forum for everyone too see...its no secret, its not emailed...its here for everyone. sonner or later....so when a new guy or older member asks, were it is...who cares...tell him were to find it..dont banned them...how dum. this is not the THF...this is were the fish play.
onother thing i read was people getting banned for telling people were freerolls are and putting the sites name there...THATS NOT SPAM...i saw one and it had no code after the .com therefore it was not spam...someone got banned for that also...again dum...abuse of power...i wish i had not wasted my time at another forum, and been a bigger part of this one, then meaby i would be the MOD...I would only ban memberes that admit too being under age...not for asking for a password.

well i cant comment on who was banned and why - ive been busy the last few days sorting things behind the scenes

i for one will gurantee that i wont allow any staff to abuse their power

first of all, im not gonna any members here for being underage. This forum is for gambling and i would hope that everyone here is of age to gamble - however, im not the police. I cant go round inspecting everyones passports to check their age - thats the job of the poker company. As long as people are mature and are nice to fellow members

By not banning members doesnt mean i condone it - i dont reccomend gambling to anyone underage. Get your education, go travelling and enjoy yourself before you start playing cards - you need to realise not everyone is gonna win the wsop. However, we cant start banning people because they might be underage or whatever - there is no actual gambling on this site afterall.

the rules have mostly been made from the problems we have at the start of the year when we had problems at texasholdemforums. I cant please everyone however, not taking a hardline on passwords being passed around means that when we have 400 people at a freeroll - only 100 people are members. Thats 300 people who shouldnt be there. Ask anyone whos been posting a lot in the last two months and have taken part in the games - loads of sitouts and loads of people who signed up and then got the pass and left.

dont worry though - were going to be doing evertyhing in our powers to make this a fun place to hang out. We're just trying to make sure the site heads in the right direction. THF members will assure you that i do everything in my power to look after my members

thanks for the feedback though - good/bad, its all good and will help the forums go down the right road.

....oh and please use paragraphs - lol

The reason they were banned for 24 hours was because the same question was asked over and over. I guess it could have been a coincidence that the same question was asked over and over a day before the freeroll, but I think they never would have had to ask if they just would've read the complete post. That's what you need to do here. You can't just show up and get a password. If Fonz didn't want you to at least read some of the post, let alone participate in the threads, then he wouldn't even bother having a password. That would be pointless.

dont worry about it guys
im not an ogre - im a pretty laid back guy

all ive been doing in the last few days is trying to set this site down the route i think it should go down - and that is rewarding members who contribute here

Those of you who were members of texasholdemforums in january, february and march will know how crazy the place was. Seriously, the place was mad with like 500 people online getting the pass, posting absolute garbage to get post counts up etc

heres my two cents on this issue...

there are two basic types of freeroll forums.

there are forums who just give out their freeroll passwords for nothing. u just need to sign up and thats it. no posting/time period requirements. its in their best interest to drive as much headcount traffic to the poker site in question, and thats it. sitouts, spammers or not.

then there are forums like this one which prefers some kind of a 'dedicated' membership criteria. they do run a business for profit, but they also want to nurture some sort of a community and spammers, post padders and others who only appear once in a blue moon to get into their freeroll of choice are not welcome.

hence, one should think and decide what kind of a forum suits their taste best and join it/them. its merely a matter of personal taste.

i frankly was drawn to FF because they're the last honest forum that still deals with pokerstars AND doesnt lie to its members regarding pvt tourney/freeroll issues NOR does it defame poker sites for childish reasons, 'order' the members to boycott, but then turn around on a dime, kiss up to the affiliate manager and all is well again. (won't name any names, sorry! but some of u may have a hint or two about a forum or two lol)

also, i dont mind at all sharing info and thoughts on a pastime i like a lot-poker. so posting 'quality' posts and contributing on a forum where 'serious' poker players predominate is a pleasure for me and not a chore.

in sum: business honesty and integrity + stars (and paradise!) freerolls + serious poker players = i'm an FF fan to stay!

As you'll notice this is my first post with the forum, but I must say that I agree, I'm a member of paintball and cycling forums all around the net and I'm constantly trying to find a new forum with people actually putting effort into there posts rather then just rambling on without knowing what there talking about, it's a bit different there because a post count doesnt mean getting a cool new colour like here , but on the other hand you get some people that open a thread just to say "o look how many posts I have I must be more dedicated then everyone else...but half the posts are either garbage or "Yes I agree"... to the point when you post something with your opinion you should at least include something half decent to say in it.

Wow,
I guess it's a global webboard issue..
I admin a couple of bbs's and mod on a few others. We get very similar complaints.
If you dont mind - and I hope I dont step on my "cards" by saying that clear written guidelines for mods behaviors and members requirements always seem to elieveate some (not all) of these types of issues.

Ok, I will now go back to being the newbie..

As you can see by my post count, I'm a new member - just joined today. I'm also a relatively new player, having started only last month. So for now, I'm playing mainly freerolls while I try to work on my game.

One of the reasons I decided to join this forum is that it has restrictions. While it's a generalization, I've found the level of play at sites like this one to be higher (and thus more helpful in improving my game) than sites where almost anyone can get into supposedly private tournaments.

As for those who whine about requirements, well, there are plenty of other places. It's not your right to play in any site's private tournaments - it's a privilege that the site can grant or not according to whatever criteria the owners choose.
