Actually I doubt lack of patience is correct. It is simply having time in the first place. It wouldn't be the first time I've missed one of my regular smaller freerolls just because I know I haven't got even 3 1/2 hours to spare.
Have to agree about the attractiveness of playing 500 paying out down to 80th though. This can be achieved reasonably frequently, whereas there are players who I wouldn't think are any worse than me who keep banging their heads against the umpty thousand entrants brick wall and have never won a cent.
When I ask why they do this, the usual reply is that it's like the lottery, you are shooting for the rare jackpot. Hmmm. Anyone else spot the dangerous tendency there?
These people are basically saying they are gamblers, not players. Just like calling stations and mechanical raisers. Oops. The very people they are trying not be like.
Yes, I know, you can't play poker without the occasional gamble. I'm talking about the long term when you are making regular money. That is not gambling, it is regular income.
So would I enter the "main event"? As a gamble, no. If I could afford it, just for the sheer fun of it? Yup!
