| | | | $5 Freeroll Finish and chipped up Well, I placed 3rd in a freeroll the other day on Check N Raise poker. I was feeling pretty good about the finish but decided to sit on my money for a while before I played again, just to cool my jets and not get overheated. Anyways, about a week later (today) I go back to CnR for a little action at the $.10/.20 NL holdem tables. I arrive and within 5 minutes I am dealt QQ. I decide to raise. 1 caller, and flop falls 10 J ?6?, rainbow flop. I am in position and the guy checks to me. I bet and he calls, quickly. I think, hm... straight draw No, he would have contemplated the call. So I put him on a 10 or a J. Anyways, turn is a 9 and he checks over to me and I bet. He calls again. I know I have him, unless he is staying in with AK and catches something, of course this is low limits so it is very possible. River comes and brings another low card. He checks and I push all in, hesitant call, he was the chip leader, I flip over my QQ and he has J ?4? and I win. That put me roughly around $9.50.
I bluff a few pots later on, picking perfect places and positions in which to do so. I get dealt a string of good and bad cards. Disciplined folds, perfect bluffs and raises, along with a few traps and slow plays. I end up, 30 minutes later with a healthy stack of $16.10. I was very happy with my $8.10 profit in a half an hour. Didnt want to get ahead of myself though so I left the table. Also, because the table quickly became full, every seat filled, and in low limit, that isnt a great table to be at.

| | | | Thank you. Yes, and here is the update. Sat at the table, for about a total of 45 minutes, went up little by little. Bluffing and taking down pots, slow play, the usual. Then, the only hand that crippled me ALL my sessions at CnR, which is two sessions by the way, was me hitting top pair. betting out and getting called. Turn pairs the board, bet out, called again. Two diamonds on the board on the flop, and I bet enough, about a dollar each time, to scare draws away, river is a diamond and my two pair loses on teh river to a made drawing hand.
I talk to the person after, asking why he was even in the hand. You cant imagine his reply. "It was the NUT FLUSH draw." I was about to go to his house and filet him, because that sentence only comes from the BIGGEST of fish in the poker sea. I mean, yes, nut flush is good, but putting the DRAW after it is unbelievably stupid to call half your money with.
Anyways, I lost only $2.10 total at the table, and was able to pick up some Check points, which allow me to play in regular money buy in tourmaments by spending the points earned. So not a total lose.
That brings me to exactly $14.00. Hoping to make it to 100 in about 2 weeks. Tight, passive, aggressive, take some pots down from bluffs, mostly slow play with the nuts though. I will limit my play to an hour a day, that gives me ample time to make $5-$20, and only lose $1-$5 if I am lucky.

| | | | Well...This is the most messed up game I have EVER seen. I am sitting, just won a hand to put me at a total of $19.50, get dealt JJ, at a $.10/.20 table, and raise, $.20 to a total of $.80. I get 2 callers. Flop comes 2 7 7, and unless someone stayed in after a raise with the worst hand in poker, I have this hand. Anyways, bet $1.20, 1 caller. Turn I bet $1.40 and called again. River makes the board show 2 7 7 4 4. He pushes all in, I think, hmmm... AK 2 pair with Ace high. He didnt raise so I know he doesnt have an over pair. He wouldnt stay in with a 4 to see the turn. Then I think, what if, what if he has a seven. Well, I had to acll it down anyways, pot committed by amount $20.00 in the pot.
Show down. He flips 6 7 clubs. Beating my J J. I was like WTF!!! You call a raise with 6 7. Get the same response as the other time I took a bad beat (read above) "It was suited" I was like you must be the biggest fish in the world. He asked the table if he was a fish, and all conversations went on a stand still, noone would answer. I cant believe it. My whole bankroll gone. Oh well, freeroll money, but still...Up to about $20 get dealt a great hand, get a huge bad beat. Not what I like to see.

Hope you can boost up your money and win a real money tournament.

| | | | Not sure I'd call the JJ hand a bad beat. The opponent made a pretty bad call initially, but after hitting the flop, was ahead all the way to the end. As for calling your bets instead of raising after the flop and turn, the result - whether intentional or accidental - was that he successfully trapped you. | |
