Question Serious Freerolls

For once, I would love to see a freeroll be taken seriously and played with the quality of tournaments such as the WPT or the WSOP events. I mean, every time I enter in a freeroll, NL HE, 100 people are out the first minute, and after break over half the people are out. Alot of the time, it is because of a bad beat in which some idiot goes all in on a crap hand, gets called by a dominating hand and the river helps to hit a gut shot or two pair. I would like to see a freeroll, maybe hosted by FF that everyone plays at the top of their game. This would improve everyones game drastically, it wouldnt turn out to be a race situation every hand. Is this even possible? Maybe some special tournaments for active posters that there is a requirement that you have to reach in order to play. But still, freerolls may still not be taken seriously which is very dissapointing. Anyone know a way in which this can be accomplished? Big prize pool is one way, but I dont think Fonz wants to put up the big bucks quite yet.

Bluffin I agree with you Just as well sitout the first fifteen minutes of most freerolls I enter in, but stay in to get the chips from the people that go all in with nothing hands, to help out later in tournament. Yes its unbeleiveable how these poeple play at time at the start. I do have a better game with poeple at the end, bujt you still ahve to deal with the bad beats then also.

Haha, yea, well it occured to me that I was registered to alot of forums, but was only active on a select few. I didnt think that this was very nice, taking advantage of the site, so I decided to put all the forums I am involved in, in my Favorites folder. I stop by each one every day and make my posts, then come back if I am bored and have nothing else to do.

I too, hope to see myself, and you MBB at a final table of one of these freerolls.

Bluffin,

I couldn't agree more. Most of the play at freerolls is awful. Being on the wrong side of those bad beats one to many times, I am constanly amazed at what people will call with. The other day I play a 5x pot bet with AA and some guy called it with q8 suited. Picked up the pot with a flush on the river. I was left with all of 20 chips. I made it back up to 110 and then gave it up making an all in play.

That is why I started getting involved with private freerolls. Planned well these won't get rid of all the crazies. But, if you play a decent hand strongly, you will get some respect at least.

I hate the first half hour or so of the freerolls also, but I know our man Fonz has some ideas to help slow some of these problems down. I don't think you'll ever be able to stop them though. We just need to be patient until he gets back from busy month.
Even with all the bad play I'm bummed because I have to miss the next two FF.com freerolls. And don't worry, I'm not going to be one of those people who sign up anyway even though I know I won't be there.

Yup Nobig,

I am defiinitely looking forward to July when Fonz get's back and starts the overhaul of things here. Even if it means that I might not be able to play for a while because I don't have enough senoritiy here. No biggy it will pay off to wait.

In the mean time I do what all good poker players do, although I am far from being a good poker player.

I adjust my play to the environment I am playing and that always gives me a better chance at coming in the money or even winning a tourney or 2.

Why not use the freerolls just to evaluate a site? I'll play two or three freerolls regardless of all the lotto players you see, and if I like the setup I deposit and play. Spend too much time with the freebies and you pick up all sort of bad habits.

i dont think there is a lot we can do about the sitters and idiots who treat freerolls as a joke. i would too like to play a tournament where my opponents actually bother to make an effort to play properly, and youre right, it would drastically improve their game if they played like they wanted to win, guess we will just have to wait for fonz to come up with a solution.... until then i suggest we use this forum to come up with ideas for a way of improving the quality of play in the freerolls
