To say the least.

I went our early in both tourneys.

I had expected for these freerolls to have more solid players.

First tourney I went out against A 2 off with AK. The guy raised I pushed him all in and he still called. Picked up As and 2s.

Then I lost most of my pot again when I made a big bet and was called by K 10 off. Another joke of hand.

Then to make matters worse I had built up a little back of my stack. Made a good raise and got called by Q 9 off to may AQ.

So much for solid players.

I guess I will have to go back to my old strategy.

Let the idiots knock themselves out. Then I can start playing with people who have a clue.

I know entirely what you mean. But there again, it is only a freeroll with no playing qualification, so sadly you have to expect idiots. Most of them will be gone after 10 minutes.

But it's easy to misjudge why people stay in on weak hands. That happened to me just last night, busted out of a sit and go when someone called a big raise when I had a premier hand and they got lucky on the flop. But afterwards I decided not to be harsh in my judgement. She was on the small blind and all passed, she called, I raised. Why shouldn't she now call? If she's good enough to know about blind stealing, why should she read me as a genuine raise? So yeah, bad beats hurt, but we have to be careful about ascribing them all to idiots.

I take it back, make that half an hour. Just went all in for a sizable amount preflop on AK after I got some callers and a reraise after a smaller (pot x 2) raise by me. I got called by QJ suited and T8 suited!!!! Q8x on the flop. And just to add insult to injury, a T on the turn. And then the guy with the QJ complained about bad calls!!!!!!

Guess which one had put in the inital re-raise of my over the pot raise? You don't want to believe it, but you know what's coming don't you? Yup, the T8 guy was the reraiser!!!! Oh, and he'd sat out for the first 25 minutes and only just joined in (see other thread).

You do wonder if some of them are on the same planet don't you?

Anyone fancy a game of tiddleywinks?

Yeah, you're right, but it still hurts when it goes pear shaped.

I've found that its best to wait for the "Loonies" to kill themselves off. Unfortunately some Loonies get lucky and then end up with a big stack of chips. Eventually it catches up with them, but its not easy to stay out of the hands when the blinds start going up and they are going all-in every hand just to steal them. Seen it, Seen some of them get quite lucky. Trouble is, if it works for them in one tourney....... they just keep it up in every tourney. UGH

Soft Myst,

I made mention of this in another thread. Probably at THF. Sometimes even the worst player will get so lucky they can even win the Tourney. Of course you never see them do that twice. Mostly they catch a good chip stack and then lose it right back because it was all just luck. And skill always wins in the end.
