Hey guys...

It seems at the Absolute Poker Freeroll this past Sunday some collusion was involved. Fortunately the player(s) involved didn't come even close to the money but I thought this should be brought up anyway. Here is a copy of the email I received from Absolute (my original message is included):
Quote:
Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your email.

Thank you for letting us know about what you happened at the tables.

Please note that we started an investigation and we will follow the proper methods to guarantee that this incident do not occur again. It is against our policy to reveal anything about another player, so the actions taken against those suspected customers can't be discussed with you. However, I want to thank you for bringing this possible collusion activity to our attention.

If there is anything else we can assist you with please let us know.

Sincerely,

Kristina

It is quite obvious that three sns, "Justar7", "Justar9", and "Justar10", participating in tournament #842299 (TexasHoldemForums Bonus Game), are all the same player, rotating play time. Please do something about this.
I believe the players name here is Justar.

Interesting. You'd think these idiots would be a little less suspicious by picking names that arent so similar

A freeroll is a standard tournament where the entire prize pool is donated by a sponsor (in the case of THF freerolls, it's texasholdemforums). Since these are complete promotional tournaments with (literally) FREE money to give out, often players will try to gain an advantage (quite pitiful, really), and create multiple accounts to play in this freeroll (as was the case with Justar here).

It does need a little more than just multiple accounts; different IP address per log in and multiple PC's. Possibly running multiple instances of Windows though virtualization on a single system will do. Which I still dont think will sort out the IP address issue unless you can feed each virtual PC connection through a different proxy server! All that effort and then using dumb screen names.

Pokerroom used to have a ton of problems with that, there would be people in freerolls with up to 5 accounts.

I think they were not checking IPs, just relying on the software not being able to run multiple copies at once.
