Following up on ali's point,

Poker servers rival most bank servers. You can't hack it, it is truely impossible.

Unless you breach into their servers head quarters and get in through thier internal network. But again, a hacker would just change numbers around, giving them tons of money, not actually change the software. changing the software would be like using a nuclear bomb to take out an ant farm. It won't go un-noticed and its too much for such a little job.

Hack into a file, find thier name, change $0.00 to $50,000.00 and bang, they are done for at least 6 months. See you in the fall.

If they try anything more crafty then that, they will leave a trace or be cought.

Fink is definitely right. I was playing a $10 rebuy and was at the first table with 4 big names, all with huge bankrolls. The most noticible was CaribbeanKid, a very good PokerStars player. All 4 of those players would go all-in almost every hand, and then take double rebuys. They do this for a few reasons. They think that it is the best way to get a lot of chips in the rebuy stage, they have huge bankrolls and can afford to spend a lot on rebuys, and combining the two previous reasons, rebuys (especially on PokerStars in "primetime") bring in big prize pools and very nice payouts for first place, so these players want to get the best possible advantage to do well and make money.

As for your experience, I think everyone is in agreement in that you just got unlucky. Rebuys bring crazy players. If this happened in a regular tournament, I would definitely be pissed, but probably not even think anything is fishy there. There definitely seems like nothing is fishy in the rebuy tourney you explained. It sucks, but that's sometimes how poker goes.
