Default Serries Two Gold Cards on Cake?

Whats the deal with these? I've been sitting on 2 .50/1 tables for an hour and haven't seen one go out to anybody. Gold cards still around?

Word out (can't remember where I heard it) is that the Series II Gold Cards are MUCH harder to get.....to the point that some dedicated Series I hunters have bailed on Cake. They said it wasn't worth it, cause they hadn't seen any going out.

Check with Dudley. She (or he--which one is which???) may be the one I heard it from. She/he won lots of Series I cards.

In the middle of another 2 table session of .50/1... 67 hands at one table, 59 at the other and no gold on either. I'm well aware that they aren't worth much (unless you play a ton and manage to be competative in the race) but they made the rings just a little more fun. I don't understand why they would raise the required rake (or whatever they did) and make them pretty much exclusive to the high stakes players. Find something that makes the game more enjoyable I'd think you'd keep it around.

Series II GC's are still there. And yes, they are extremely harder to get. Series I GC's used to pop out after about $10 in rake. Now they come out out about $50 in rake from what I can tell. I usually have to play about 150 hands at the .50/1 NL table to see a GC come out.

I completely agree with you Fink. It was a fun little thing to have going on during ring games. Now it's just something that happens every now and then. I played more at Cake when the Series I GC's were still being used. With the way they have it set up now I hardly play the ring games.

I think it's boring, i play 0.5/1 and 1/2 and i don't see many. It's almost impossible to compete in the race for 500 miles and you can't use them for much else... the giveaways ofcourse but the times of those are not suitable for me most of the times.

Default Back from the fog

Hi folks,

Allow me to comment on the Series II Gold Cards and their rarity in general. The promotion was always designed to scale up as the traffic increased. more players mean more rare gold cards and big prizes. What you're not seeing yet (and should soon) is that the Daily Lottery which is cash only now will soon pull double duty. You'll be able to redeem much easier cards from both Series I and II to get into bigger Giveaway tournaments. For example, we'll throw out a $500 Giveaway for a 2 of Clubs, then the next day an $1200 Giveaway (maybe for the exact same card). It's all part of the chance you take redeeming your cards. And of course if we throw one for $1500 for a 6 of diamonds, you'll have a much smaller playfield than if it was 2 of diamonds.

Something else rather big is on the horizon for Gold Cards as well which will make our promise of "collect them early, hang on and they'll gain more value" come to pass. Can't say much more than that I'm afraid. I will tell you that if the site doubles in traffic, they're going to scale with that and get even harder to obtain, but when that happens, even getting a 2 of clubs will make someone's day, whereas I'm certain many of you have a number of smaller cards from Series 1. Count yourself very lucky and keep watching the site.

In my opinion all it does it caters to the higher stakes players who care about them less. Having a steady outpouring of gold cards are the lower limit games made it a little bit more interesting, now when you sit .50/1 for over 2 hours without a single card being seen it becomes just another session of poker.

It's bad business to introduce something that people really seem to enjoy and then take it away.

If I could find a way to do so that doesn't destroy the promotion, i would. The simple fact is that if they came out at the same rate as 1 year ago now, Series 2 would be drained in 30 days and we'd be on Series 3. Not all of the pieces of the puzzle are there yet and when they are, you'll get a better understanding of why things they way they are. As it stands now, you're only seeing 1/4 of the picture.
