Default A valuable lesson

After my big win on Bugsys, a staff member on another forum asked me to transfer $10 to him to seed his bankroll on Bugsys, and he'd pay me back. I did.

I received message reply notifications in my email for new messages in my threads on that forum several times a day. I also received daily private messages from that staff member keeping me up to date on his bankroll's progress. He kept saying he was at $20 and would pay me back once he hit $30.

Yesterday, my bankroll expired, and I am 2 player points away from collecting $10 of my deposit bonus. I posted this fact on the other forum. Not a peep from anyone there since then. The silence is highly unusual, but I guess not unexpected.

personally i never lend money to folks I havent seen in real life. I think thats the best way to do it. It is odd that it was staff involved in this. I would contact the site owner and it is reasonably likely that there will be one less staff member by the end of it.

Ben, the staff member is a FTF buddy of the owner. Likely I'd just be deleted as a member...not that I'll ever go back there again.

Wow, the guy paid me back! I won't be quite so quick to judge next time.

There is a very small group of players I would transfer money too (all members of the same poker league). Anyone else - nope

I'm glad you got your money back

The guy was part of a group on CardCrusade that spent a lot of time in conversation before the site closed. We had played against each other bunches of times and talked for hours and hours. I just thought money had ruined what was becoming a friendship.

On another site, while playing freerolls, I kept running into this relatively large depositor and chatting with him. Without me asking first, he offered to transfer $3 to me provided I eventually paid him back $5. I thought about it and agreed. So we entered a 50-cent rebuy where I knocked him down to zero and caused him to rebuy six times. I did pay him back, but he didn't quite make the profit he expected.

Over such an insignificant amount it would make me wonder how someone would let it slip. I've lent amounts between $500 to $1K between friends with no problem. Then again I can count those on one hand with several fingers missing.
