Step 1

I titled this "Step 1 for two reasons: First, This is the first type of blogging I have ever done. Hope I'm doing this right, if there is a right way of doing it. Confuscious once said: "A journey of 1,000 miles starts with one step." I don' know if I will ever hit 1,000 blogs, but with this, my virgin excursion into the blogging world, I am on my way.
The second reason why I titled this entry Step 1 is because Tonight I played in a 500 frequent player point 9 player sit and go tournament on Poker Stars. It had the following prize pool:
1st and 2nd: Entry into Step 2 of EPT-PCA
3rd: Retry of Step 1
4th: $1.50
I was hesitant to use 500 frequent player points (fpp) but after thinking about it I figured I had over 3,200 fpp 600 of which came from Poker Stars for filling out two surveys on the experience I had with their support department. So throwing caution to the wind, I decided to bite the bullet and play the tournament figuring I should at the very least be able to finish 4th and get a $1.50 for my 500 fpp. Anything on top of that would be icing on the cake.
The early stages of the tournament showcased a couple of aggressive players, or at least more aggressive than me. Although, I didn't show the aggression as some others, I was able to pick up a few pots to get my chip stack to above the average stack. Eventually it got to the point where there were four of us left and I picked up a nice pot with Ace, Jack vs. Ace 10 and eventually knocked out the same guy to get us down to 3. Final hand of the tournament happened with me having a sizeable chip advantage over 2nd place and a crazy advanatage over 3rd place. I was in the big blind with Ace, King off suit, 3rd place moved all in, small blind called as well as me. I caught an ace on the flop and checked the board to the river and I ended up winning a ticket to Step 2 to the EPT-PCA. The only catch to winning one of these deals is the tickets are only redeemable for enries in to EPT-PCA events, not for tournament dollars or frequent player points.
So now its on to Step 2. There are 5 steps in all. How cool would it be that for completing "5 steps" I could go on a journey more than a thousand miles.
