2011

wow has it really been a full year since i last posted here. I must have been seriously distracted (
@ Lil ). Yup things really changed for me in the last year. Being in a relationship and also working on a fairly regularly basis during the year left me with a lot less time to be playing poker... which was all good to be fair, i had a much bigger smile on my face and a lot more money in my wallet.
Unfortunately I have little recolection now as to how and when things were happening specifically... i could always check my pokertracker or these forums but i'm far too lazy for that lol ... look yourself if you care. However, early in the year i literally had nothing left in any of my poker accounts as I was struggling to keep the bills paid at my old house. Then one evening Gimme pops into the forum chatbox and we get chatting... he asks what i'm up to and hearing my plight, offers to stake me and get me back in the game (thanks gimme
). I would earn 50% of any profit I made. You don't turn down offers like that do you?
I started off playing in the $3 rebuy (60k guarantee at the time i beleive) and was playing well concentrating on just the one table, using PT3 and looking up players stats etc for easy reads. I was cashing regularly in these with a couple decentish finishes.... then i made a deep run one eve finishing 14/5758 for $253.
After speaking with Gimme I took a shot at playing in the scoop low buyin main event $109 and finished 385/16782 for $587. Gimme and I agreed to let me choose whichever games I wanted to play. Then for a short while, I was having the run of my life ! I won a couple 4/180 sngs, and had several top 5 finishes, I final tabled 3 large mtts inc a 6/4290 in a $3 for $418. I ran the bankroll up to over $2k in about 1 month.

If only I could have carried on like that without worrying about the very real world that was starting to catch up with me...
I had pretty much nothing left to cover the bills which left me no option than to cash some out to keep me out of debt, and I also managed to find a job. It was then that the results started to go the other way. Good job I cashed some out when I did as I would have probably lost it all back otherwise. With less time on my hands to play, I was playing turbos instead of my prefered structure mtt and sngs and losing. fast. In the end, I was back where I started, with nothing.
Since black friday, I've deposited a few times with small amounts and on various sites, but not managed to run the bankroll up, suffering maybe from the same game selection problems. I've tried to adapt to ring games playing PLO and have had good days... but not weeks let alone months. I did have a small run on my new ongame account with coral poker ( alias: stank you ) in their mtts, but then bust it back moving up stakes too quick and donking off at PLO.
So, here we are in 2012. If i've learned anything from the last year, it is that hard work and determination pays.... impatience and poor decision making leads to defeat. My goal for the year is to do lots of the former, and none of the latter.
Happy new year
