not at all - in the big blind such a small raise is easy to call particularly if you are against players who will risk all their chips on an over pair. You wont flop a straight or 2 pair or trips very often but when you do you can get VERY well rewarded. Quite what qq is doing only limping in with a small bet at this stage in a tourney and then willing to risk ALL there chips is another matter - that kind of play will get you fried in the long run.

24player played this hand perfectly others far less so - I feel sorry for 88 player - Hard to fold but straights were on the board. In short qq POOR play, 88 ok

calling almost ANYTHING in the BB to a single raise with his chip stack is normally the correct play - hands with near nut potential like 34s,24s more so 27os could be legitimately folded and k2 is a hand that could easily get an inexperienced player in a lot of trouble but low suited connectors even with 1 gap are very playable here - even the 88 play should have started suspecting a rat - but it was really a very hard fold on his part and on average his play was fine he will have the best hand here most of the time UNLESS he is very risk adverse his play is fine.

Once in a while I will play a "bad hand" if I can afford to, in good possition, with a minimum raise in front of me. As Ben said, you can clean up if you hit the flop right, and then you feel guilty for winning. The guys with the pocket pairs wanted some action with that weak raise and got some to your delight. Nice move.

THF Player of the Year
Aaaahhh, the sweet smell of 42o. Always a good wheel maker.

And goblue even won making a flush with his 42o.

Saying 42o is a good gamble even with low blinds is like saying shooting into the air when you see nothing is a good way to go dunk hunting. You might accidentally catch a hand but for the most part your throwing away chips. If your in the BB and there has been no raise then any two cards is always worth the flop but I would never say to call in EP, MP, LP or SB with 42o. If your gonna play that way you might as well see the flop with 72o and hands such as these. Again once in awhile you might win but more times then most your giving away chips.

when i have a big chip stack, i like to raise with 72 off bc it wins.

I agree with Ur...why waste chips on needless calls, you can use them for a more worthwile call...and Jro, you win because of your raise not because of 72o....and you can raise with any two cards in the right situation and win....don't go duck hunting in blank skies, shooting in case something flies into your line of fire....you might get lucky one day and even hit a duck, but you will go through a truckload of shells before you do!

You hit a one-in-azillion hand... But, most of the time, a fistfull of lotto tickets will pay off better than that call.
