Default Need help with Calculating Pot odds and outs.

Hi

I been playing for a couple month now and getting pretty good at texas holdem or well at least against friends and family

I watch poker every week on tv(sometimes a couple times a week).

So Anyways I been working for the last little while on tells and what cards not to play stuff so I bascily got that under control(and getting good at it) but now I want to get better at outs and pot odds.

I am ok at outs like I know if you got 2 suited cards and on the flop come’s 2 suited cards you got right there off the bat 9 outs.

I still would like to get some more practice on outs since you never can get practice.

But what I really want is taking your outs and looking at the pot size and figuring out if it is worth it to go for it mathematically.

But since I am not the greatest at math I would need a site what explains how to do it all then it would need to have maybe some practice sheets so I could do like a 100 different scenarios so I would fully understand how to calculate out the right odds and stuff and I could compare it with my numbers I got to see if I was close to the right odds. Plus it would make me faster at calculating it all. I don’t want to sit there for 10mins trying to figure something out.

Also do you calculate your pots odds differently whether you’re playing limit or no limit. Since if it is I need to know this to since I play both limit and no limit.

Thanks in advance.

cowboy put together a good post on odds.

check it out http://www.texasholdemforums.com/t3199-.html

this is from a post by FrankyDaPit

After the flop: multiply number of outs by 4 ( in Tex's example, OE straight draw, you would have 8 outs.....8 x 4 = 32)

After the turn: Multiply number of outs by 2 ( same example. 8 outs. 8 x 2 = 16%)

good advice

I know, i didnt know this until about 4months back. But i use these methods in every game i play now.

Just last week in a live game for example: -

i had A and 10 of clubs.

Flop comes

2 5 8 with 2 clubs
the short stack is all in.
Im short stacked too, and its gonna cost me just about all my chips to call.
I put him on just an 8 with 1 over card.
So my outs are any club - 9 outs
any 10 -3 outs
any A - 3 outs
so 15outs x 4 = 60% chance

i call he shows
8 J
i hit a club on river

enough said.

Cool that is sweet how you figure out your precents. Thanks for the advice also that link was helpful but now I need some program/work book what just is made so it gives you cards and you have to figure out your outs/pot odds.

Since I am going to need like a million different examples I can do so I can get faster and stuff at it since my math is rusty first of all(dam that calculator) and I need do it by myself first because I know if it takes me more then 2-3minatues the people I play with will start to get mad.

The 4 and 2 is prob the easiest and most helpful way to quickly figure out your odds and you should always be using it... it is def needed in sng play when u have so few calls
