The THF forum does the job. Thanks guys! I'm a beginner player. I started playing on-line just this last January. I made all the newbie mistakes ( and still do sometimes). But overall I thought I was was holding my own. I exclusively play MTT's and S & G's. (love the freerolls and the lucky dollar on Pokerroom) I never won anything in the MTT's but occasionaly I'll win, place, or show in a sit and go. I deposited $100 in my account in January and to this point I'm still playing with that same $100. ( currently $76.50 ) So, I thought I was doing O.K. When my bank gets low I seem to pull a win out of my A**. But I recently realized I was just getting lucky. I was playing reckless making all the classic mistakes. I've read a few books, and attended some live tourneys to watch, and also I've watched some live play on-line (All very helpful I must add) But it wasnt until I joined the THF forum last month that I started to notice a change in my game. I look forward to logging on every day and seeing what new posts there are. Its great to see what other people think about different hands, strategies, etc..
Now the other day I got the courage up to finally post one of my hand histories. I thought every one would look at it and say "WOW you did everything right, that moron just got lucky against you". But I got just the opposite. I got critisizm. "You raised too much pre flop", "you raised too much on the turn", "You didnt have an exit strategy", "Your position was all wrong". now instead of getting upset, I actually read all the criticizing posts and decided to learn from them.
So today I entered the Lucky dollar tournament on PokerRoom along with 1,278 others. I am happy to announce that although I didnt win, I took the advice from all the THF posts I've come accross in the last month since I've become a member, and played the most solid game I've ever played in my life.
I came in 52nd place and won $6.50 (Woo Hoo now I can retire ) but it was the most gratifying $6.50 I've ever won. (NO! I didnt win it, I EARNED it).
I got blinded out at the end because I was not stealing any blinds and playing too tight. But I'll work on that with the help of my new friends at the THF forum.
Special thanks to Fonz, Kikolo, FrankyDaPit, & N1VEK. Thanks for the replies on my recent post of my hand history. It really helps. |
