Question Newb Betting question??

OKay alot of people tell me diffrent answeres and i wanna know if this all is right.

for NL texas holdem

1.) OK so blinds are 5-10.

so on the flop, turn, river. You can raise from anywhere 10 and up

But not during preflop..

2.)
For NL holdem and im raising TO..

player a bets 20

PLAYER b; RAISES TO 40

player craises to 60

Because theres a 20 doller raise

like this

200 then 500 then 800

or

500 then 2000 then 3500

Blinds 10-20

player a raises to 60

player b( in sb) raises to 100 ( but only puts in 90 because he was in SB)

player c( IN BB) raises to 500 ( only needs to put in 480)

player D can raise to 900

The rules for betting in NL Holdem are fairly simple. The minimum raise is either the size of the big blind, or the size of a previous raise. So if no one has raised then the minimum raise is the BB. If someone raised say $100 and the big blind is $20 then the minimum raise for that round of betting is now $100. This is true pre-flop as well. And of course since its NL, there is no max. bet. You can bet it all at any time.

First of all, the professor gave a nice description of the betting that should be basically all you need to know, but I will try to explain a situation you made up. Here, Player A raised it 40 more. Player B raises it 40 more (which would now be the minimum raise because of the first raise). Player C raised it 400 (which is now the minimum raise). Player D can raise to 900, which would be 400 more, or anything above that. The betting rules don't really matter how much a player puts in total, it matters how much more they put it.
