Default 10 strongest starting hands

I've seen differing sets of the 10 starting hands. Can someone list the definitive 10 strongest hands? It seems they all agree on the starting 4 then differen from there on. For example is a A-Q stronger than a 9-9?

It doesn't matter which starting hand is stronger. You have the list of best starting hands, all you have to do is know how to play them. Knowing that A-Q is stronger or less stronger than 9-9 doesn't help you with anything.

The hands I prefer to see in order are (if you counted suited as a different hand)
AA
KK
QQ
AKs
AKo
JJ
AQs
AQo
AJs
1010

(Suits don't matter)
AA
KK
QQ
AK
JJ
AQ
1010
AJ
KQ
99

The strength of those hands only matters depending on the situation. All are foldable preflop and postflop (AA in a satelitte when you know you're in). Anybody can be dealt those cards, but its how you play them that makes you a good player. I wouldn't go off some table to tell you if you should play it in a given situation.

Why would you rather see AK than JJ but you would rather have JJ TT 99 or 88 than to have AQ?

You should look up some more detailed articles of this, as starting hand strength is also positional. For example In early position pocket 10's are weaker than in late position for the basic reason that in late position, betting/folding information has been played out in front of you before you need to take the decision on how to play them.

Such being pocket 5's are a pretty good betting prospect if you are in late position if it's folded around to you, but trash if you are in early position.

First, I'd like to note that they're not really in particular order, but AQo especially is worse than most med/high pocket pairs.

I would rather have AKs than JJ but AKo is difficult to play since it still only has the same odds for pairing as any other non-paired hand. The problem with JJ is that there is a significant chance for A/K/Q on the flop (24% chance that the next card off the top of the deck is AKQ) so it will be beat out by Ax, AK, AQ, AJ, KK, QQ, KQ, KJ which are all hands that people play; but by no means am I ever suggesting that you be passive holding JJ - just IMO AKs is worth more
