| | | | Limit Holdem I'm pretty new to poker. I've been playing Hold'em for a few weeks now, read two books, but nothing too serious yet.
I play a lot of freerolls at the moment, cause i think it's a nice way to learn more about poker.. for free! I already won one: a Fulltilt freeroll, with 900 players. Too bad the first prize is only $8 there... (it took me 4-5 hours to get that $8 )
But anyway, at Pokerstars they also have Limit Hold'em Freerolls. Most tournaments are NL and I don't really know how to play Limit tournaments.
What hands do you play in the beginning? And when the blinds get higher? And how do you play those hands? Any information is welcome.
Oh and btw, how good must a post be to be a 'quality post'? I want to play in this forum's freeroll!

| | | | I'd say this post is quality enough. lol. But anyways, in limit hold'em you can play a little less tight, because you know you're not going to faced with a decision for all of your chips. Likewise, great MONSTER hands of No Limit don't hold the same leverage as they do in NL, because you cannot "push around" the other players in order to make them fold. You see? It's definately an art, and what i suggest is take that $8 you won and play some limit at the lowest blind level possible. Playing limit with freerollers will teach you nothing, because those people don't care at all. You'll get screwed over. Just try playing, and then you'll learn the touch. Good luck!! ~ Biggs | |

| | | | you can push people around in limit hold em, similar to NL it is just a matter of chips. Also just a lot of the limit tables at PS people will check around and if you make one bet everyone folds 98% of the time. It does take time to play a limit game it is not quick | |

| | | | although i play limit i prefer no limit tournaments. I find limit tournaments a tad restrictive
however its still a great game - youll get more people calling since the bets cant get too crazy(at the start anyways) so you have to make sure that you maximise the pot when you do think you have the best hand

| | | | no-limit holdem has many advantages because it's easier to read the strength of your opponent's hand based on how much of their stack they bet. | |

| | | | Limit is a more basic form of hold em. It involves making smart mathematical decisions at times. However, to be successful, it also involves making close decisions. For instance, if you get bluffed out of a pot in limit hold em, it is a huge loss. However, you must be able to fold your cards on the river to save yourself some chips. So limit hold em requires
trying not to get bluffed out, but not calling on the river all the time to make sure you do not get bluffed out.

| | | | No limit holdem also has an advantage..its easier to read them (i know u said that seinfeld but just restating)
In limit they could have a monster hand ..and all they can do is bet the limit..but they could be bluffin with 7 2 and youll never know until the end..cuz their betting pattern has not changed..
For some reason im really good at limit even though i dont like it..i always do bbetter in limit tourneys than no limit ones

| | | | As Doyle Brunson said in his book Super System: Limit Hold 'Em is a science, whereas No-Limit in an art.
In Limit Hold 'Em, it often happens that similiar hands are played the same way, even by different people. In No Limit, the options grow immensely, and you need to have more of a "feel" for the hand.

| | | | I cashed high recently in an omaha limit tourny. Felt like trying something new. I think in NL you can see how people are really betting. in limit, if you have the cards then bet them. | |

| | | | I have found it easier to play Limit. As a new player myself
I think the concentration level increases as you haven't got the pressure of having to put all your chips in.
Just my opinion..........I do like NL better though.
